Felt unwell everyday for the past few weeks?

I've seemed to have felt quite off for the past few weeks. (The symptoms aren't severe enough to interrupt my daily tasks e.g. work, going out with friends, etc.)

Symptoms:

Nausea

Nausea when / after eating

Sweats

Headache

Fatigue

Dizziness

Difficulty concentrating

Light headed

Unbalanced

Irritable

Upset stomach

Sometimes feel sluggish like a hangover

Back / neck / shoulder pain

I also feel like I have been quite depressed over the past few months and had a lot of stress with relationships, work, self appearance, etc. (also come to the realisation that I believe I have anxiety).

Is this anything to do with depression or could it be related to lack of exercise and so on? I work at a desk all day and haven't been visiting the gym recently.

I would be grateful if someone could advise as it's becoming very frustrating and making my life less enjoyable.

Disclaimer: I am not a health professional and not diagnosing myself - purely my belief.

Hi. Yes, all your symptoms do point to stress build-up and could over time result in depressive and/or anxiety problems, however before this is confirmed or diagnosed by a doctor they would first need to exclude the basics. You should first visit a GP to run a basic blood test (FBC) including thyroid (THS, T3 and T4), liver function and iron including binding. If possible also vitamin and mineral deficiencies tests. They also need to review any medication and supplements you may currently be taking including the contraceptive pill, vitamins, stimulants.

Check also that you are not chronically dehydrated.

Re sluggishness and digestive issues in the meantime: check your consumption of starches, sugars, meat and processed foods - part of your symptoms point to you not digesting or assimilating your food effectively  at this time (common with stress/anxiety problems). Probiotics, natural fermented foods and easy to digest food may be helpful. Also you could halve your caffeine consumption gradually if you drink coffee - this will help stomach as well as overtension problems. Avoid alcohol at this time as it can make healing more difficult as well as promoting depression.

To relieve tension related problems you describe as well as help your circulation and eventually your stomach problems, check that your muscles are relaxing adequately, i.e. not tense throughout the day. DO Stretch often during the day and get a deep tissue massage if possible with focus on just below the skull, neck shoulders, beneath shoulder blades, arms and sides of the spine. (This may actually alleviate dizziness and balance problems as well as help get rid of headaches - 2-3 sessions should be enough).

Whatever the cause (i.e. whether stress induced or some deficiency induced) the steps above shopuld help your body start to regroup and will be beneficial in restoring balance.

Returning to light to medium levels of exercise will be beneficial for sure but do take it slowly as you do need to regroup from overall exhaustion gradually.

If you can, please let us know what the doctor says if you decide to see one.

Wishing you to feel much better very soon.

Hi there,

whilst I don't know if I can help- I just posted a similar kind of message on this board! I too have been experiencing lots of symptoms, in themselves minor, but all together- faily exhausting! I have been going about "normal" life too (just about!).

I believe anxiety has played a part in my bad health. Although the symptoms have not disappeared, when I spend time outside walking my dog, light gardening etc it does help.

Slightly weird question, but what sort of sweats have you been getting? I find this one of my more disconcerting symptoms sad

Have you been to GP? Sometimes you need to get pushy with them for tests- that's what i'm going to try and do on tuesday!

Good luck smile
