Fiber

I have read on here that some people are told to go on a low fiber diet. But I was told to eat fiber I am wondering what is best I have slit of diarrhoea so should I cut down on my fiber Any suggestions please

I can't tolerate high fibre, I always stick to low fibre.

If you are having diarrhoea cut back on fibre and stick to low fibre

for a while.

I can't eat greasy foods either. I find it's best to stick to a bland diet.

I know what high fiber is but I don't know foods that are low fiber Any help would be appreciated x

I have fybergel and albran on a morning I might cut out the albran and see how I get on

Try a probiotic. It should help. Also a fiber supplement too. I have had problems with too much fiber but taking a supplement has helped me greatly. I take Metamucil capules. Start slow and increase as needed. Lots to water too! Hope this helps!

We're do you get the Metamucil capsules from x

Our local pharmacy. Try online. They have been great. I can't drink the liquid form.

Just had my first "bout" of diverticulitis.    I am on low fiber diet for a few weeks, then told to advance to high fiber.    Never had constipation, only diarrheal?  I wonder what to expect with high fiber?!

But ..... They say high fiber prevents the diverticulitis, so what do you do if you get diarrhea so easily?

Hi Susan. I was told by a board certified surgeon to go purchase Metamucil and there would be no need to cut on my colon. I take it twice per day in 12 ounces of water two teaspoons. I have not had one flare up in 7 years and I eat pretty much whatever I want. This product has been a life savor for me and I hope it can do the same for you.

Best regards

I have started back on fybergel which I think is the same just a different name. Will see how I get on. Thankyou

I received the same recommendation from my board certified surgeon /physician as well. Fingers crossed. Only been taking it one month and still get IBS so I hope the Metamucil keeps diverticulitis away! Thank you for confirming what my doctor said as well. This forum is wonderful!

Yes the product is known to help mild diarrhea and IBS. It binds up your stools and assists in easy movement out of your colon. I had a friend have 14 inches removed from his colon in an emergency surgery and almost went septic and died when it ripped. I told him about my experience and he wished he had been told earlier about psyllium husk product.

That is my biggest fear when dealing with this dreaded disease. Now 7 years 🏃🏿 and zero flare ups. Only downfall is sitting on the toilet a few more times per day than a normal person. Hope you have the same success as I have had over the years.

Madeline try taking two doses per day once in morning snd once at night. 12 ounces of water and two teaspoons.

Best regards.

I take 6 capsules. I can't drink the liquid. Have to push water. The liquid woukd probably work better but I can't do it. I'll increase the capsules if necessary. Thanks
