Hi, I was wondering how many of you suffer badly with constipation and acid reflux. The reflux can sometimes mimic pain of a hear attack and it can be quite frightening. I am also finding for the past year I am only opening my bowels once or twice a week which could possibly be because I spend more time in bed as I feel constantly exhausted. How do you manage to control these symptoms? Thanks
Hi... I suffer with reflux as I had a stomach user 4 yrs ago.. but ask your Dr for omeprazole
As far as bowel movement I suffer more the opposite but do so études get constipated
x
if you take pain killers esp coiden this will slow down your movements and as people with Me AND Fibro dont move about much due to fatigue this will also hinder the bowel .hence if your eating and food isent moving thro the system properly then your going to have reflux .
also if you have a pain flare where you hurt really bad all over for several weeks
the bowel to and the bladder can become inflammed as it is a muscle like all the others in your body that hurt .this will also cause constipation .
iv just got over a really bad pain flare . now my bowels arent working proberly it is driving me mad iv eaten all the stuff that usely moves me but only small amounts are coming out . i am afraid its just another burden we have to bare .
even my accupunture hasnt helped this time
. idid find reflexology very helpful at keeping me regular , unfortunatly my lady has retired . i can tfind any one eles in my area so using accupunture but it isent as good . for me
if you can bring yr knees up when lying down and roll your legs from side to side several times in the morning sit up and lean forward as if reaching for your toes in little movments then lean to the decending colan on yr left and do little movements reaching forward then repeat on the acending colan .on yr right
you can also try doing massage brush down with yr hands firm but not hard on yr left hand side of yr stomach this helps the colan empty no good pushing stuff up if
your still full ,in the decending colan
, then move to yr right hand side of the stomach do the strokes upwards about 10 ,then across your stomach from right to left do this for as long as you can , rest and reapeat do this daily and it should help
. you could also have exlax choclate laxative in or good old syrup of figs .apparently my nan was dosed with this weekly as a child .for a good clear out.
another option i am trying to build myself up to trying , is 2 tablespoons of coconut oil in hot chocolate ,apparently it works like magic .havent tried it myself yet .
i love coconut oil an dits very good for you but the thought of all that grease dont no if i could in hot choclate .
another good natrual laxative is black trecle if you can stand the bitterness in hot water or milk . hope iv given you something to consider and some new advice .
It's a hirrid side effect of some meds...and what you eat..I used to get it really bad..then I found out that whenever I had eaten a certain food, that it would happen, thought I was having a heart attack once....rushed to hospital and all...I don't get it at all now..I don't think it's a Fibro issue, but could be totally wrong here as there are soo many differing symptoms..tiswas has posted a good insight into it too...gave a great day, be blessed.:-( xxx
Thank you so much for your responses Trish, Tina and Christine. Trish, I have been on Lansaprasole for a number of years now but it could be my mess which are causing it. Christine, I was rushed to hospital last week with the same pain and it really dies feel like a heart attack. I am getting a lot of reflux at the moment and with it a lot of body pain. I have just had a quick ogle and found the following which you may find interesting:-
If you are battling with fibromyalgia syndrome then you are probably having to deal with a variety of unpleasant symptoms. From chronic muscle pain to migraines, fibromyalgia can be a debilitating illness, which makes it difficult to carry out even the most simple of tasks. Unfortunately, fibromyalgia also increases your risk for developing a number of associated conditions. One of the conditions, known as Gastrointestinal Esophageal Reflux Disease, or GERD, is a severe form of acid reflux. It can cause a number of unpleasant symptoms and may even exacerbate your fibromyalgia. Luckily, there are a number of effective treatments available to help eliminate GERD.
Tina (tiswas) thank you so much for taking time to post all your great ideas - funnily enough my daughter just bought me a tub of coconut oil yesterday you have given me so much to try I really hope something works for me. I also think I need to drink more water too. Looking forward to trying some of your ideas out but think I will wait till my other half goes to work first
hope you feel better soon.
Thanks - need to see now if I can get some sleep. Night night
i am hoping to get some sleep to my stomach hurts iv ordered some cod liver oil i had to take it some years back nightly for constipation then it seemed to right it self an didnt need the oil any more
but maybe i need to go back on it .
i have had bouts of constapation on of all my life .seems to have been at diferant hormonl changes now i am 55 maybe its linked to another hormonal change . i dont no all i know is its driving me mad .
like you i get so frustrated with it all .if its not one thing its another
no wonder people think we are hypercondriacts . wishing you some peace tonight and a better day tomorrow.
Maybe get your gall bladder checked...my husband had many-a trip to the hospital by ambulance over the last 30 years...the new dr said: I think we will get your gall bladder checked.. so a referral was written, he had the scans. Yes it showed up...that same week whilst waiting for.results he was again rushed to hospital after excruciating pain.,admitted..gangerouse gall bladder removed.. Touch and go...very very blessed indeed, he was given the percentages of life and death....the hospital actually rang him while he was in the Hospital recovering to tell him to get therimmediately...funny now!! Nit then if course..and he us the healthy one...please I am not wanting to scare yo he was 63....he had this pain on and off for 30 odd years...hope you find out what is the cause really soon gizmo ..be blessed:-) xx. Also it was hereditary, his mum 2 aunts a sister a grandmother all had there's out when they were young,,trouble was that a doctor never ever asked or even suggested it to him....our daughter is currently doing a medical PhD she said, well you just don't present as someone with gall bladder trouble-there is a criteria that Drs follow. your healthy, a non drinker and a non smoker..mmm no answer to that one..:-) xx
Wow Christine you were awake so early - you seem to have extra energy unlike mee who could sleep all day. My gall bladder was checked last week when I was taken into hospital so it is fine but thanks for the thought. I an pleased to hear your husband is well again after suffering for so long :-) x
Yes constipation is horrible as I can feel it in my colon and it needs to move arghh lol. Yes, we also have the menopause to fight with too so who knows now what symptoms relate to what - tires me just thinking about it. Oh well I guess it's prunes for brekkie xx
yes i can feel it in my intentines as well ,but i think iv found my cause
iv eaten several lots of mutton in the last to weeks new to me not had mutton since a child ,
, its classed as red meat , i usely have a small steak once a week with out problems but iv had beef and mutton several times in the last couple of weeks ,
i have proberly caused the problem with the first lot then componded the problem by eating more with out realising what was causing the problem
fingers crossed with out eating anymore it will right it self .
Yes, too much red meat is not good for you. We should be eating oily fish 3 times a week. I'm feeling so tired today (which is like most other days and my legs and hands are so painful) there's things I want to get done today but just can't be asked to move. Got my reflexologist coming this afternoon so I am really looking forward to that
I have never had to much trouble with these symtpoms.I take omeprazole tablets for stomach problems, which in turn help with digestion etc.
I would talk to your GP,it may be something to do with acid build up.
Hi,I would just like to ask if anyone has ever had problems swallowing food?
I went out for a meal on Sunday, had steak with chips.Started off fine, but then my mouth became very dry,as if there was no spit,I could not swallow my food and ended up leaving half of it!
It took 2 hours before my throst felt ok again, but since this I am having problems with certain foods, especially if they are not wet.It feels as though it is getting stuck in my throat and I am going to choke.
Please help.
it could be so many things aniexty/stress
.i get very dry mouth due to catearh, ,and if i eat cheese or bacon . so if you can rule out these things .
some meds can also cause a dry mouth and conditions like fibro and Me . if all this can be ruled out then its a trip to the doctors hun
,i dont think much of them but sometimes its only them that can sort you out. you need to find out the reason . before you can do anything .
Thanks,
I will see how it goes this week and if it is no better I will mention it to my GP whe I see her next week.
Hoping it is nothing serious,I really do not need something else on top of every other problem!
Fibro, anxiety and I also suffer with Hyperhidrosis.
if you have fibro sorry i didnt see it mentioned in your first post .
then i think your find its due to this , it is one of the many symptoms of fibro and it comes and goes ,
my aunt had surgery which caused trouble swallowing unrelated to our condition , and she was told to bring her chin forward towards her chest when she had diffitculty swallowing i do this now it does seem to help .
look up fibro symptoms on line thats its were i read that a dry mouth is common symptom its not in all listings but in most .
you dont want to be pulled about and poked and proded uncesery
because this can cause pain flares . so try to avoid when possiable
Thanks,I was really starting to worry.
I have had fibro for 5 and a half years now,I know just about all there is to about symptoms, but not heard of difficulty swallowing.
I might inform my GP anyway,so that they can add it to my list!
well it cant hurt .
