Hi everyone,
When I went to my doctor and saw my fibroid tumor on the sonogram, I was amazed at the size. It was little bigger than a plum. He started me on the Depo Shot. I have no idea how long I had my fibroid. It will probably be the end of the year before I am able to have surger. My concern is whether or not it will get a lot bigger by then. Do any of you have any experiences? Thanks in advance.
Hi Lisha Your fibroid may well grow but i doubt it will be alot. I had to wait nearly two years for my surgery and i do not think they grew that much so i wouldn't worry. You could always get a sonogram privately if you are concerned. I had a an open myomectomy to remove fibroids 6 weeks ago tomorrow. Thankful to say i am doing well now. I am in the UK tho so not sure the differences in treatment.
Good luck xx
Hi Lisha not sure what Depo shots are but I had Zoladex injections to shrink Fibroid prior to Hysterectomy which I refused. So do lots of research. Don't let them tell you to have a Hysterectomy if you don't want one. There are other options such as UAE which is not done by Gynocologist so they won't tell you about it. To answer your question. Whether the Fibroid grows or not depends on if you are having injections to shrink it. If you are not then it will grow. And I would not recommend Endo Ablation either it made all my symptoms work. What're ever you decide good luck x
I agree with patricia27082, the shot should help shrink the tumor - in preparation for surgery. I was n lupron depo before my myomectomy, it did help with the size (mine got to 2 cm smaller) and with the bleeding (during my period)
