Hi Patricia what would you like to know? I had a laparoscopic myomectomy done about a month ago. You can message me if you want and will answer
Hi Camelia
I would like to know about recovery time if I will have stitches scarring also what pain medication was used in hospital. How much pain you had. If it has made a difference yet. Stuff like that x
Hi Patricia my recovery was quite fast. I was in hospital from Tuesday and was discharged on Thursday noon. The incision pain was very mild I would say on a scale 1 to 10, a 3. I don't know what sort of painkillers they gave me as I slept from the time they woke me after the operation until next day morning. It was all given on a drip, I have only asked for headache and nausea medication cause of the anaesthetic. I have had a Cather for the blood removed 2nd day after the operation and another one for peeing which was removed as soon as I was able to walk. I took my first walk with the help of the nurses and it was painful more like soars muscles. Later on in the day I walk unaided and managed to do quite a few steps down the corridor and the Odin was ok, I was more like stiff around the cut. It was painful though to get in and out of the bed and slept on my back for a few days. I have had no pain in my shoulders either and was only a bit bloated.
I have 3 very small cuts and one small. The scars are visible but just about. I have one bellow the belly button that had changed a bit the shape of it and the largest one is now healed and is on the right side, bikini line. They close the big one with blue and the other 3 with strings.
and yes I feel the difference, I feel lighter and my first period wasn't too bad, only the first 4h was quite painful but after it settled. I have haven't bled after the operation , only discharged the blood that was still in the uterus, more like remaining of it. I no longer have pelvis pain or back pain and my bladder is no longer under pressure. I was able to walk and do chores around the house a week after the operation.
so yes it was a success for me and glad I have done it cause now I can live again without restrictions.
Also the medical team played an important role in my recovery and treatment, they have managed to remove them without causing any problems and they were on the top of the pain. The afternoon-evening after the operation the nurses were constantly checking on me and were giving me medication.
Hi there!
I've had three myomectomys. One done bikini cut, hystercopic, and laparoscopic. It was not beneficial for me as I've just had an UFE performed on 8/24/17. The pain is and was horrendous. The laparoscopic myomectomy lasted for about four years for me before I was told during a checkup that I'd grown more. Anyway, good luck!
Hi ladies , i wonder if you could help me decide which op to take. I was in Asmya for the past 3 month after that i did scan again so instead of getting smaller the fibroid is doubled in size and became 93 mm and there also is smaller fibroid in a different part of the womb. the gynecologist discussed the options which includes open surgery but she insisted into the removal of the womb. I am 44 years old and i don't have children.i was in shook during the discussion to the fact that i have to remove my womb so i asked the Dr to give time to think about it. It has been 2 days now and i have no idea what to do.
Hi ,
I was in this position when I was your age. I am now 48 and will be 49 on October 19th. If you want to have a child/children, get a myomectomy. This way, your uterus is left in tact and you should be able to become pregnant. Since I've had the UFE, this may possibly throw me into menopause, which I welcome at this time. All these surgeries and my first pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage. After that , I did not try anymore. I made my peace with God and am okay with my decision. However, I do know that once I did have my initial myomectomy, the doctor advised that I attempt to conceive 6-8 months after the procedure. I'm not sure if this will help. Good luck to you!
Hi
I had to reply when I saw this. Ask your doctor for a Myomectomy that way you can conceive afterwards. If the doctor refuses get a 2nd or even a 3rd opinion.
You do not have to have a Hysterectomy for Fibroids. But you may have to stand your ground as they prefer Hysterectomy (easier for them to do) I have a 7.5 cm Fibroid and I am going to be having a Laprascopic Myomectomy on 11 Jan. I was diagnosed in June 2014 so it's took more than 3 years to get to this point.
Do lots of research and if you decide you are a candidate for a Laprascopic Myomectomy you have to be referred to a laprascopic Gynocologist (standard Gynocologist is not qualified to perform a Laprascopic procedure and they won't refer unless you ask).
Whatever you decide make sure it is your choice. I'm 51 and I was never having a Hysterectomy from day 1. You may be different. Does not matter as long as it's you who decides.
Good luck 😀
Hi Sasha where do you live? Can you get a 2nd opinion? Your fibroids are not big and can be removed via keyhole or open myomectomy. If you don't want a hysterectomy then DON'T ACCEPT. I have had a laparoscopy myomectomy for multipme fibroids, so it can be done if the gynecologist is trained laparoscopy. Don't gave up, it won't be easy but you will get there.
