fibromialgia alternative

another alternative to relive pain although i dont fancy it much

is to beat the area with stinging nettles which numbs the area

used to be used alot in the past for the relive of rhematisum .

ANY TAKERS

Bee stings are also said to help and I believe that bee vemon can be injected.

yes i heard about that as well sounds a bit painful to me.

i love social history so have read lots of articles on how they used to treat illness and do house hold chores , it was legal to grow cannibus for medical use for quite some time it was used a lot thru the war as pain relief .

Back in the olden days Fibro was known as rheumatism, then name changed to fibroitis and in recent times changed to Fibro.

I'll do a search of stinging nettles.....thanks....joy

Yap, works like red ants. Somehow relieves the reumatism.

Hurry before the nettles die off in winter.

Oh, I don't go out and pick my herbs...they are in capsules....

Actually I have heard that that works well and a friend sells the stinging nettles at the market for just that reason.  I was hoping for a more permanent pain relief one that might draw out the nasties

it works by numbing the area the more you sting the area the more numb it becomes.but its only tempory relief

it works by beating the area with nettles cause the area to go numb after so many stings ,so capsuals wouldnt work .in the same way.

You could make nettle soup and nettle tea.

I used to go to a herbalist some years ago and asked her how vegetarians could take capsules made from gelatine and with mad cow disease around at the time. She blanched and said that she had never thought of that. Later she advertised that her capsules were Vegan.

That's rash of her:-)

Very droll

However Tina,

I thought that consuming the nettle purifies the blood.  Nettle tea may help in the same way.  But then, what will that do for reumatism?  I don't know.

hi joy i cant see that hun because rhematisium is aches and pains i v never heard of all the symptoms of fibro linked to rhematisium .

i stand corrected if i am wrong ,my nan had rhematisium she used to ache all the time she used winter green oinment .for her pain.biggrin

the gypsies swear by nettles they are apparently rich in iron .

cleaner blood healthy you i suppose is thinking behind it .wink

A friend in America used to rub peanut oil into his mothers joints. Now he rubs it into his own.

Yes, I've used peanut oil on my knee and also olive oil....and coconut oil....our joints need oils. Even ingesting a tsp of olive oil and or coconut oil daily. I've been out of peanut oil and peanuts can be fungal so watch my consumption of peanuts.

We need oils in our bodies and too many cut back on oils and consume too much carbs and sugars...those are worst for our joints.

funny thing is i had been rubbing coconut oil in to my skin as a body moisteriser and noticed that my knees were less painful but i never connected the two just thought that the supplements etc were starting to work . might just do my knees on a regurlar basis cant do any harm can it.rolleyes

I'm keen on the coconut oil idea especially as I've read it helps with dementia as well.
