Fibromyalgia and flu vaccine

Hi, I'm new here, not officially diagnosed , but everything is unfortunately pointing out fibro. Where I live, the autumn is coming and a bad flue season, too. I have seen contradictory info on the Internet about the flue vaccination according to possible flare ups. I would like to get  a jab as soon as possible, becos I believe it is dangerous to get a flue with this condition. Does it cause flare ups? Anyone?

Hi conta 10. I have had the flu jab and was absolutely fine ( I too suffer from fibromyalgia. ) and you are right in thinking that catching the flu is much, much more dangerous to your health, than maybe? Cause a flare up...it is not!! A live vaccine, therefore it is safe for everyone...

I wish you luck and a happy, healthy winter.... big hugs, Deirdre xx

Thx a lot for this,

Yes I agree with Deirdre on all points. Go get that flu vac! xx

Have been having a flu injection now for years...in Australia they are free if your health is compromised,  also for  your carer..:-) xxx

Hi Conta, how are you,

I have fibromyalgia and lupus for a very long time now

I have my flu jab religiously every year without fail,

I had flu six years ago ( the real thing ) I thought I was going to die I was hospitalised for three weeks and when they let me home I still couldn't walk more than 6 steps,it took another couple of weeks before I started to feel human again,

I've had no real problem with the flu jab, I find if I'm going to have a flare up its going to come whatever I do, I had a slight flare up once but I think it was more coincidental and would of had one anyway thinking back at little triggers just before hand,

I hope you can get the advice your looking for with individuals experiences

I wish you well and fingers crossed what ever you decide you will see this autum through with very little discomfort

All the best Leona
