Fibromyalgia and supplements

As I've been newly diagnosed I am

Looking at non medication ways to ease symptoms.

Going to bed with a lavender microwave pack was amazing, however I wondered if anyone takes any supplements

Have seen that vitamins b12, d3, magnesium and omega 3 are good just wondered anybody's opinions

I don't take supplyments, just tons of medication.   I use a microwave heat pad and use magnetic back support with magnetic wrist bands when needed.

I take all supps for Fibro except ibuprofen for OA and FM pain and a herbal pain supp called Pain RX....find these get me thru my days and all my supps.

Thyroid support is critical so keep that in mind...too many MD's don't want to be bothered and give us "you are normal mantra"...my story is long a horrible for 10 yrs and not getting help.

Fibro and thryoid dsyfunction are very connected.

Read Grape seed extract and Fibro, I'm on grape seed ex 19 yrs now.

I get nice pain relief with higher doses of MSM powder too. 3 times per day.

Go slowly and add when you are ready, I'm dealing with this FM since 1999.

Warm baths. Just stay warm in general. Magnesium is a MUST, but all minerals are. Check out herbs or teas that support muscle and nerve function. They're inexpensive and work like magic.  Aromatherapy. Homeopathy is my perdonal favorite, though I'd fight to the death before I gave up any of it. I could give you a laundry list but it depends in your specific symptoms.

Detoxing your body, not too aggressively, is very beneficial. Slow and steady. And sugar, bad bad bad. It's gift wrapped pain because it creates inflammation.

Nitro, "gift wrapped pain because it creates inflammation" love your way with words....you sound too much like me but a different way with words....Are you male or female, just wondering...

I'll have to remember that gift wrap wording.....have a friend who claims she is not diabetic but has so many neuropathy symptoms and overdoses on sugar stuff...maybe she sees a doc who is out of it.

Haha. Thanks Joy. Female. I like analogies. Helps people remember your advice. Sometimes it's too much info so I get creative.

Thanks for your advice had a great day yesterday but feel rubbish again this morning. I have noticed if I'm warm I feel better getting through a lot of heat pads especially as there's no heating on when I work.

Am slowly eating healthier and cutting out rubbish and did some meditation after a warm bath last night so small changes

It takes a while. Sounds like you're already paying attention to your body.

I don't love the idea of meds, but Lyrica or Neurontin really can help you get through till you figure it all out. The suffering can be unbearable without it.

It's a little obsessive or OCD but I recommend keeping daily quick notes of what you did to try and ease symptoms, what you ate, etc. along with the actual symptoms you have the next 24 hours. Don't make assumptions though. Fibro is a tricky bugger. Wait to see a pattern, unless of course the effects are immediate. Only review it once a week or it will drive you batty!

I know most fibro people are inherently tough, which is bizarre that were the ones who get it. But stay out of your own head. I use the analogy like a dog in that it happens & I move on, forgetting..just like an animal. The data you collect, look at analytically like a puzzle. It all CAN get the best of you some days. If you spend the whole night screaming in pain, be a dog & climb out of bed like it never happened and hop in a hot shower & move the heck on. Know that no matter what, you are a bad ass & most people you know would run crying to their mommies if the had ONE day like yours!

I do no drugs for the Fibro and OA I deal with, use all supps and except for Ibuprofen and DGL for stomach protector and milk thistle for liver protection...I manage, my mind and body are very anti drug if I can find alternatives that work they are my choice ... hope the warm baths are fluoride free water....fluoride is very toxic for joints and organs and glands....such a fraud upon the people...

Even better! I had to take the meds for a while & I don't want to belittle anyone that does. But ultimately, you're the exception. You do everything you can & any meds/drugs are a last resort. I love it!

Magnesium oil applied to the skin has worked well for me as well as an oral supplement - both easily obtained from a high street health shop but cheaper online. I have yet to try other supplements but after the success with magnesium, I will. It's definitely worth taking notice of people's recommendations on here. Hope you find something that helps you.

Just have to say, MAG oil is amazing. It's like it helps everything. Slipped off a stool onto kitchen tile. Just banged up but could hardly walk. Covered myself in mag oil for 3 days & its like it never happened.

Never get a headache, grape seed extract takes care of that one too.

Antioxidants help a host of issues. I think people don't realize that they are as important to quality of life as water is to our survival. I'm so glad you reiterate this in your posts.

Note: All toxins are passed to babies as mom & baby share blood. We are not born 'clean'. Then look at all we've done to ourselves. Get that gunk out!

Omega 3 in enough quantities has a direct impact in combating inflammation from fibro. I would definitely recommend supplements with concentration higher than 500 mg. As for the pain, that is somethin else entirely.

Oops my post was sent to the mods!  probably because I gave the supplements I was on with the manufacturers names!  Will try again this tie without the relevant name. Apologies if this too goes to the mods.

I am on the following supplements

 B12 sublingual lozenges 1000mcg

L.Carnitine power 500mg capsules

 Ultra Coq 10 200mg

Ultra tocotrienol 50mg 99% tocopherol free.

Vit D

Was on medication but stopped and find I can manage with the above and hot baths/bio freeze when necessary and with the unconditional love of a dog!

Could you share the brand and how many mg of MSM you take a day?

And also the grape seed extract?

Do you take the grape seed extract in pill form?
