had first appointment despite raised RF my consultant wants to follow the belief it's fibromyalgia. Although ultrasound booked bloods taken again and steroid injection for shoulder offered . Any advice sorry to ask just felt someone might be able to help.
so tired and well you know ...nothing helps the pain....
Rheumatoid Arthritis is defined as an auto immune condition. If your bloods comeback without any of the markers (IL1, IL6, IL7, IL17, TNFa etc) then its a good chance you need to follow a differential diagnosis for another more appropriate condition
Thank you will wait for the bloods then ...
Hi christine, the difference between fubromyalga and RA is that with fibromyalga, the pain moves from place to place in muscles, all over many places, and there is so much fatigue.. What helps many people, who often figure this out from their own research and exp is to take 2 magnesium mineral supplements ( not magnesium oxide as it is very poorly abs in addition to their multivitamin, calcium, and d3 supplement, fish oil and folic acid taken daily. The magnesium is needed for the calcium and d3 (2000-5000mg) and other much needed supplements to be absorbed, which caused my fibromyalga pain to go away permanantly after not being managed correctly. It was due to calcium and d3 and other nutrients not to be absorbed, due to an extreme depletion of magnesium. I take magnesium glycinate which is highly absorbable, which then allows hormone levels to be balanced properly. Blood tests or labs do not show magnesium levels of more than 1%, as this is suppose ti be stored in muscles and bones.

Thank you ,,in which case that's odd because my pain doesn't move it centred in particular areas shoulders wrists feet..
What i mean iby moving around is that it is not consistant with constant tendon and jkint pain universally on both sides of the body, which is generally in the extremities..i.e. Hands, wrists, fingers...feet, ankles.. I dont know about shoulder areas...moving around pain, is that kind of all over deep muscle aches and pain associated more with deep, aching, ifatiquing pain,..making it painful to move, stand. Or walk, that is nit universal pain on both sides..
Thanks I think it's very difficult to diagnose and the bloods are crucial ar,nt they I appreciate you taking the time to explain or try too. Only time will tell I suppose.
Hi
you mention pain in shoulders, feet, wrist. My RA began with my shoulder and what was thought to be tendonitis. Then my other shoulder was affected, knees, base of right thumb and then some weeks later my fingers. You don't mention your hands/ fingers but if they are not affected that may be why there is a query over RA with your consultant as stiff/ swollen / hurt when squeezed is a classic sign of RA. However , you can see from my story spanning the last year, that different bits can hurt first. It s so hard the first year while they find out just what s wrong and the best meds to help, but a year later I am so much better ( though on a lot of meds) so hang on in there!
I took 1 to 2 months is all of the doctors taking blood labs, showing low inflammation rates when i was in incredible pain. Since labs didnt show high RA inflammation rates, and i was in all over pain, and not able to receive prednisone for this pain was needed to see. The RA pain seems to be in the tendons of fingers (thumbs, fingers, joints) hands, wrists, feet, ankles, etc and typically gets diagnosed as tendonitis when associated with my RA. I was in so much pain that i wasnt in previous to the RA diagnosis, i couldnt help but think it was my RA pain. The labs were the final key for me. Its so upsetting and fatiguing being in chronic pain for so many of us and i was overwhelmed to the point if nit being abke to differentiate or even often describe specfically when it was going in.
