Fibromyalgia & wanting more children

Hello - As I have previously stated I was told I had fibromyalgia around a month ago. I already have a 4 year old son and my partner and I have been talking for around a year to 18 months that we want another child.

Now with being told I have this and just wondered if others have had more children after being told they have this condition? x

Did you consult the fertility specialist yet? If you are actively trying for baby over one year and no results yet, you should book an appointment soon. There is little evidence that fibromyalgia negatively affects fertility. However, you may experience increased discomfort. This may cause you to engage in sexual activities less frequently.

My wife got pregnant with our DS, 2 years later her diagnosis with fibromyalgia. As long as the woman is not completely debilitated with fibromyalgia pain, there is little reason not to consider children. First and foremost what is important is, to have a good and trusted medical team and to have regular touch with them. If you are on any medication, you need to discuss this with your ob/gyn well before you plan on getting pregnant. Getting pregnant would not be issue; however, once you are pregnant, there will be more discomfort especially in third trimester. Few go into remission while being pregnant, while few continue to manage with safe medication and few non-drug techniques. There is really no way to tell before.

yes  , i know about a lot of people who have Fibromyalgia and have more kids .

the thing about Fibromyalgia is that it is not a progressive dieseas , meaning , no matter what you do , your symptoms will not get worst in time , no deformaties , no nothing , just pain , yes , i know its no big comfort , but it is a good way of looking at it and contolling it .

mind over matter !

i've walked around with a diagnosis of Fibro , for 4 years , with a lot of pain and i refused to take any medication , i kept going regularly , putting the pain in the little box and closing it shut . i treated myself with alternative things such as massages and hot baths and diet . eventually , after 4 year of false diagnosis i discoverd it is not Fibro at all , it is AS . which is more fun , because what i do , does have an impact on my disease . but in fibro , it doesnt .

so i would recomend not letting Fibro dictate your life , this condition is about state of mind , pain is present but no actual damage is done , so you must remind yourself that and keep going . do what ever you can to ease your pain , but live your life . stress free life is a good way to minimize pain in fibro .

also i understand they recently discoverd the cause to fibro so a treatment is probably just around the corner . good luck !
