Hello I posted on this subject some 8 months ago asking whether anyone thought I might suffer with this syndrome. The kind replies concluded that
I probably didn't as I have so many other problems which can cause similar
problems and symptoms. At the time I was waiting for a cataract op which was done in January of this year although things did not go to plan it is ok now. At the moment I am waiting to see consultant about pain in left knee.
I had the same excruiating pain in the left knee for months last as they were going to do a washout, but the pain suddenly improved a lot so it was cancelled on advice of the surgeon. I have had knee OA for years along with neck and now in the spine. What I can't understand it the awful pain which runs down from back of knee into outside of leg and shin and into the heel and under the foot. I also experiece thigh pain
and odd pains in wrists fingers etc. I also have IBS. At my last gp visit I mentioned I seemed at times to hurt all over and she gave me a leaflet
about Fibromyalgia and asked me to read it and see if I thought it applied to me. I have read it through and I really am not sure one way or the other. The pains I experience are mostly like toothache and sometimes sharp pain lasting a minute or so. Sometimes is seems like the muscles and sometimes the bones. My knee OA is moderate to severe and painful making it hard to walk. I have researched on line and asked people but can't find anything saying that knee arthritis would cause pain other than the knee. Can anyone offer advice or help. thanks.
did the leaflet show the pain points on the body that specialist use to dignose fibromialgia, if not put a search in for fibromialgia pain pionts and see how many if any you have . thats the simplist way.
Hi
Although Fibromyalgia is hard to diagnose there are alot of Symptoms hence why it goes undiagoned for years in some people. Reading what you have stated it would be impossible to pin it down to fibro. I am no specialist so cannot comment on your condition other than it does not sound consistent with fibro for a number of reasons. Fibro does not just come with pain but a whole heep of other Symptoms like fatigue everyday and sore throat/dry mouth especially in the mornings fibro fog where you forget completly what you were doing in an instant.
Headaches and waking up stiff and when trying to sleeo at night Heart palpitations where the body does not shut down properly that results in limited REM sleep. This is what excercerbates fibro like no other because when your asleep your body heals and repairs itself people with fibro dont go into a proper stage of sleep. Hope this helps
Richard
Thank you for your replay Tina. Yes it does show a diagram of pain points. My husband tried and I did have some but was not sure how hard to press. What I can tell you itg when my gp has proddedmy back and legs it seems to hurts all over.
Thank you for your reply Richard. I do suffer from anxiety and don't sleep that well although better lately. I never sleep more than 2 or 3 hours without waking up. I am always stiff in the morning and sometimes don't feel well. Can't quite explain sort of panicky and feeling slighly sick I have had palpitations bu this could be anxiety. I do suffer with dry mouth hard to treat oral thrush (asthma ihalers).
I do tire easily and don't think I have fibro fog.
basicly its finger tip presure just as if your poking someone in fun
you do have general pain all over but the points are what specialist diognose on i have the full house.
Hi in that case just some places neck behind shoulder blades. Body seems sore and bruised like at times. I probably don't get enough sleep either.
you know if you have brain fog believe me its like thinking thru treacle sometimes the simplist letter or form or even trying to read is a manmouth task
i didnt have all the hot spots in the begning thats why it takes time to be dionosed i suppose u dont have to have all to have fbro several points can with a good spcialist be enough, my worse pain is the neck and right between the shouder blades , made worse as it is a sight of an old whip lash injury, infact any point is made worse by areas that have been operated on or injured in an accident , well iv found so.
Hi liberally.
Ask your doctor if they could refer you to a rheumatologist.... I had twelve months of various symptoms as you do, you very well may suffer from it..
(I have the fibro fog ) but other sufferers do not,,, persevere until you get an answer... even though when I was diagnosed it was not what I wished to hear.. at least I knew that the pain and fatigue was not all in my mind.
I wish you the very best of luck and good health... sincere wishes to you... Deirdre x
