Hey again, I posted a few weeks back having been started on MIrtazapine 15mg Oral-Dispersable tablets. It's been pretty good minus one collapse and a few constipation episodes, but that's not important.
I've been upped to 30mg and the type of medication has changed from Oral-Dispersables to Film Coated. I've got a few questions if anyone can help:
- With the rise to 30mg, should side effects kick into gear again? I know some of them are rather paradoxical in nature, but I do want to be prepared for what could potentially happen.
- Weight gain is still a 'concern' for me in the sense that I am not bothered by it, but I want to keep a close eye. Does the dose increase lead to further increases in appetite / weight gain, or is it similar to sleepiness in which it is paradoxical in nature?
- I've struggled taking tablets with swallowing whole and no chewing - does anyone have any tips on taking them whole? Does the film coating also create more problems in health, as I don't want to be throwing up on them (I had the same with 10mg Citalopram which were film coated, and I'm wondering if that is what made me sick in the three days of taking Citalopram.)
Hi, you can get oral dispersal in 30mg aswell, you have to ask your GP for them and make a special request for them. As for them having side affects when your going up I don't know because I was the other way round ,I started on 45mg now I'm comeing off them, but you can get Dispersible 30mg because I've got them. Go back and see or ring your GP.
Thanks Norma, I will give it a try the next time I see them. I think it helps if I at least try the capsule / tablet form first incase it's purely a psychological barrier, but will let you know how it gets on.
You may be right about that, because at one stage my husband used to have to break any tablet I took in half. But now because I had to take a large tablet without breaking it,I can swallow almost any tablet now. I just think that with Dispersible tablets they get into your blood system quicker. Take Care
This is the third night on the 30mg, and I've had another tablet wasted as it wasn't going down when trying to swallow. Desperately need help with swallowing technique if there are any, because I don't want to keep paying £8.05 for half the actual amount.
Hi. How about cutting it in half and taking half at a time.
Well, the good news is, I've found a technique to quickly get the tablet swallowed, so I'll be keeping on flicking my tongue to get the pill into swallowing quickly.
I could still use some answers to the questions I presented from anyone though - kind of desperate wanting to be best prepared for it all. :<
Firstly have you tried cutting tham in half, and secondly, next prescription you have make sure you ask for dispersal tablets. Have you any other problem like coming down from 30mg to 15mg has it had any effect on you ?
