I received the dreaded brown envelope Friday morning and my heart sank before i had even opened it. Thankfully i was awarded PIP which i was very happy to know and i would like to thank you all for your help and encouragement. So it took 9 days from my assessment at home to getting award letter
However i was awarded both the mobility and care component at standard rate. It is better than nothing but i am curious to know is there any way of trying to get this to enhaced rate for both. I got 8 points for the daily living component and 10 points for the mobility component. Whats the best way to proceed and try to gain enhanced rate for both components.

Wow that was pretty quick!! I had my assessment on the 1St and still not had a decision although got a letter saying they had everything they needed. You can appeal the decision, but bare in mind that they may score you even lower which could mean you might lose your benefit.
The nurse who came to assess me was quite young and she semed to pretty much just wanted to confirm everything on my application. She never asked me any question that was designed to catch me out and even in cases where i had forgot to mentin what i put on my form she she actually asked "am i correct you sometimes forget to take your medication" and so on. It went so well i was so worried she was going to write a horrible report but surprise surprise i got awarded it albeit at lower level
The nurse I had was very nice too.. People make out that there terrible but I didn't find the lady bad she was actually really nice. Appeal the decision if your not happy with the rate your getting, good luck

Contrats on the positive decision well done.
Some where in the paperwork supplied there will be something along the lines of "if you think the decision is wrong"
Basically it means you need to ask for a mandatory reconsideration which is a letter from you stating why the decision is wrong and why you should have scored more points.
If the MR fails then you have to refer the matter to an appeal before a Tribunal.
Citizen's Advice can help with either the MR or Appeal with one of their benefit specialists.
As warned above the whole claim will be looked at again and in theory you could actually get less benefit if the decision maker or Tribunal believe you have been awarded too many points.
me the enhanced rate of personal care but dropped my mobility down to standard care. The lovely people on this forum helped to give me the confidence to appeal. I appealed twice and was turned down twice. PIP said I could walk 20 to 50 metres alright. I knew that there was no way that I could wak that far without being in agony.
The only choice left was to ask for an independent tribunal hearing. One of my sons came with me and a lady from PIP turned up to give their side of the case. Also present was the judge, a professor of medicine and a man who had been a carer or had been through the process himself and a cerk to the court taking notes. I was questioned mainly by the professor and judge for about 15 minutes and then had to leave the room for another 15 minutes while they discussed my case. Happily, I won my case and although It was nervewracking I recommend anyone to go to these lengths if you know that you are genuinely disabled and that the PIP decision was wrong.

The truth is that we should not have to go through all this stress and anxiety. The system needs to be changed radically asap and GPs and surgeons not to be superceded by these so called Health professionals who feel you should be working the day after you have had shoulder surgery as you were a day case!!!!!!!!!!!
I received the same as you and was told that if i appealed and was unsuccessful i would lose both of my award which i was very grateful to receive so i havent bothered as i think some award is better than the rejection i was expecting
If you suggestion was to be enacted, we would simply move back to DLA!
PIP was and always has been about saving money. Make it harder to get an award saves money as fewer people would qualify.
According to the government, DLA was no longer fit for purpose as the total awards being paid out every year was becomng financial suicide.
