Thank you Sam91 and MumE8
So far I think it is my brain telling me they are still there but I guess its a good sign that when I check they arent moving. I have been showering every morning and changing my underwear in the morning and at night. My family has also taken the worm tablets and we have wormed our pets. I know that with these worms you can never really get rid off them but hopefully I dont get any cases again. Thank you for your help and hopefully I am rid of them now!
New to this forum and very interested in reading all your posts, following my first experience yesterday and today (both since opening my bowels) of wriggling sensation in my bottom - not just at night, althoughalthough my bottom was itching last night? Have no idea how I got threadworms or how long I have had them, but from what everyone has said so far, I am sure that is what I have. My aim now is to try and treat them to hopefully catch it early. I'm slightly worried as I do work in healthcare and deal with people 'hands-on' each day at work. I'm going to worm the dog tonight also. I am going to take on board all your tips, but if there is anything else anyone recommends I would appreciate hearing back from you. Thank you.
Could I also ask something that I don't think I have seen mentioned anywhere on the forum. Is there anything different or additional precautions I should take when I have sexual intercourse with my partner? Thanks
Hi, I have threadworms been trying for a good few months now to get rid of these things. When I first discovered them I took ovex and cleaned throughly. I got so bad I started to wash my hands in bleach. The problem is that I spent weekends at my boyfriends and I addressed him about the threadworms and he says he's had no symptoms and refuses to take the medicine. Not sure whether I still have them because of him or I'm just not doing enough. I think about these things all the time and I probably make up the itch in my head sometimes. I'm so paranoid of them I left my job as I was working around food and was worried I was infecting customers and staff. I have go for a smear test in a few weeks will these show up? Should I go? Feel so ashamed and embarrassed
May sound nasty but if u can, get one of these worms and throw it at ur boyfriend, that will make him change his mind ha
On a serious note, never feel ashamed towards and doctor, its there job, they deal with much much worst things than a little worm.
Also ovex doesnt work, they will just ease up the wiggling but the eggs hatch and bam ur back to square one.
Who do u live with?
Its shouldn't be that hard to get rid of these wigglers if you live on your own but if your boyfriend has them then you will no doubt catch them again.
So I guess first things first, clean you place through out, like ocd style, and do this every day if you can. Wash yourself every day aswell and always where tight clothes. I personally think you can get rid of these via the hygiene root as you live alone.
I did the hygiene root and I have kids and a partner so we all had to do it which was very hard work. I dont have no more wiggling but time will tell if ive succeeded or not, so far so good.
You can do both what others above say to do and the hygiene then your 100% sure you will get rid of these. If they come back then you need to tell your boyfriend hes the carrier.
Hello. My child has threadworms. The whole family was treated today (ovex).
I am getting conflicting info regarding washing of bed linens, etc. is 40 degrees sufficient? NHS site says yes provided good rinse, but other places say "hot wash". Not sure children garments will withstand very hot washes though.
Thanks.
Morning k37030
I am pretty sure that I read somewhere that you can get away with a 40 degree wash because the movement of the drum bashes the eggs etc and kills/damages them. Then with the rinse cycles - that ensures everything is got rid of. I wouldn't overload the drum though. I did my daughters bedding in half loads to ensure enough water/detergent got right through all the fabric. Mind you, I guess once you iron it all, the heat from the iron would kill anything still on the fabric. So its probably a good idea to iron all the bedding and clothing just to make sure.
Thank you Sam91. The washing machine is performing heroics at the moment. I have three children so the increase in loads is very sizeable. I normally never iron beddings, These TW are having quite an impact.
I also bought some black walnut/wormwood tincture for the whole family this morning. I will use this in a few days, giving time for the ovex to finish its work.
I have informed the school. They are going to remind pupils about the merits of hand washing. Finger crossed that they listen as it is probable it came from there in the first place.
Hi everyone, I'm new to posting on forums but here goes. This is how I treated and seem to have beaten these nasty things.
My child (age 9) one night noticed a small white wiggly thread and called me to take a look. I was horrified but didn't panic. I had never before come across this and have since read everything I could quite literally get my hands on. We immediately treated the whole family with Ovex and this was repeated after 11 days (even though it says only take after 14 days if threadworms are still around). We put into place a method which was followed strictly by all the family, it may seem extreme but it was definitely worth it:- Hand sanitisers were placed everywhere from lunchboxes to the dinner table, every door handle, chair back, tap, toilet shower head, draw handle, handrail, in fact everywhere you touch was dettox-ed every day. Each time my child went to the toilet, it was dettox-ed. And then they showered. Every day, ALL the beds were washed (at 70 degrees - I know it's exhausting!!), the kids wore underwear and PJ's and onesie-s to bed to try and limit any itching or egg spreading. As apparantly itching happens mainly when you are asleep and this spreads the contamination. When changing the beds, washing the towels, cleaning, a mask and gloves were worn at all times. Hoovering everyday. I even bought a steamer (which was half price thank god) and steamed mattresses and floors, toilets too. Also, all soft furnishings were removed from my childs bedroom as I had read that the eggs tend to stick to these and then are breathed in at a later time. We all used to use Vaseline to try and make it as difficult as possible for any egg-laying to take place. One night in particular I remember my child complaining about the itching, so I ran a warm bath, she called me and when I looked in the bath (as small as these horrible things are) I could see their shadows wriggling!! I had read about citrus, in particular pineapple which threadworms hate, so I bought: Pineapple Juice and the fruit, pumpkin seeds (which were eaten in handfulls) and garlic capsules. In fact, as much fibre as you can get through this helps clear the colon and push worms out. All sugar/sugary things were band from the house - threadworms thrive on sugar so we needed to starve them too. This regime was followed for 6 weeks. I also informed the school, but no letters were sent out and no extra precautions were taken by them !! This was all 4 months ago and fingers crossed. I sincerely hope I never see them ever again. I hope this helps anyone out there, these forums certainly helped me so I hope I can do some good in return....
Hi, I was wondering what happened to you. I have this problem for 6 months already and wonder if I should start with herbs or humaworm besides the meds...albendazol, mendebazol, pamoate pyrantel....
please help
Antiworm,
Thanks for your input and digression into how you rid yourself of the parasites.
I have actually learned today, that some of your stated remedies have been known to have been around for thousands of years, especially in the South American countries.
What irks me the most, is that the Center for Disease Control, has stated through outside investigations that there is not a parasitic problem within the United States, which is what the doctors seem to be telling their patients that come to them. They continue to say "It's all in your head", which means of course parasitosis.
Doctors seem not to be up to date and dismiss their clients as mental cases. Go figure. I actually visited a doctor, saw symptoms he had on his face, caused by parasites, and he stated the above, it is in my head. Now, I see symptoms on his family members. I smiled, knowing what his family was in for.
DRRM,
Actually I have thought of the same thing. All I can say is that worms do not hop, skip, jump, but they can be airborne, as well as their eggs on dust within the house, and outside in the air. So, you must come into contact with the worms through personal contact, by dust or by outside air ingesting and contact.
If one partner has worms, the other partner is bound to receive the gift from the other in all due time. One thing is certain, however. If your immune system is weak, that person has a higher chance and probability that they will show symptoms first.
And, to make my statement clear, I am not a medical person, but one who reads and reads about that which me and others experience.
So my answer DRRM, is when you have sexual intercouse and your partner is known to have worms, watch out!
K37030,
It would seem to me, at least for 14 or more days, that one should watch their laundry at the highest temperature they can, to not only kill the adult parasite, but their eggs as well. Many people forget the eggs, which are probably all over their home, and can easily be airborne. So, it is vital to kill the eggs at the highest temperature available, to ensure even the eggs are done in also.
Very interesting discussion. Parasites are surely the most underrated concern by the medical profession. The underlying cause of infestation is a diet that is deficient in micro nutrients and specific parasite killers, and solvents. We no longer eat seeds and therefore we've lost the ability to keep healthy. We are bombarded by solvents (cosmetics, toiletries, deordorant, toothpaste, processed foods and oils), and solvents set up an excellent breeding ground for parasites. There is no need to go to the extremes of manufactured drugs or herbal cleanses, however what I am about to suggest is extreme for most westerners who are programmed to take meds, watch tv, use bottled shampoo, eat processed foods. All of these are killing you slowly in more ways than just a concern about parasites. I suggest water washing, or washing in ocean if you can bare it, no products of any kind apart from homemade ones (e.g. Coconut oil for face). Source products you require that have zero solvents. Never cook with anything other than coconut oil. Eat ground seeds every morning. Eat veggies and grass fed meats. Eat some fish, eggs butter. Zero sugar, zero grains. No parasites can live in that environment. The 3 seed mix in the morning every morning for the rest of your life is critical. It's easy, delicious and nutritious and keeps parasites in check. Grind flax, sesame, pumpkin in equal parts. Store in fridge. Take one tablespoon in warm water every morning religiously. Follow with freshly squeezed lemon juice. You know you are sick if you can't stomach this first thing in the morning and in that case start in the afternoon and as you get more well move it earlier. All the best.
Hello, I am new to this forum. I wish to comment on what seems to be an old thread. I do have some information that may help some who wonder why they as adults no matter that they got rid of the symptoms of thread worms are still finding the re-occur. As some comment children need to re dose around every 6 months, or so it is suggested in phamplets produced by companies of anti worming products.
I used to work in Pharmacy for many years. However I am not a pharmacist. In the many years I worked I was advised by a company representative that adults mostly don't have symptoms of worms due to their stomach acids mostly keeping the symtoms hidden, he told me that all people have worms, just that children do not have sufficient stomach achid to control them.
So I am thinking maybe adults who find they have a problem with worms may have changed their standard diet, so their stomach is not producing those acides that keep the worms under control. Or even some medication that they are using is causing the worms to not be controlled by stomach acid of normal levels.
Some here comment on how important it is that when you dose you that same day clean and change all linen. The worms leave the anal area at night to lay their eggs, there was an old remedy of painting the anal area with purple paint as that stops them laying hence stops the cycle. It is also known as Gention Violet, if it is still available it's worth a try. If you try it, make sure you don't get it on your hands or bedding, it stains.
Hi,just wanted to ask you if you ever got rid of the worms? I've had them for 5 years now and I can't get rid of them...... My hubby or kids have ever had it.. Very strange. I feel so terrible. It's such an awful thing to have and the keep coming back every time! Thanks for advise. A
I feel very depressed to! I've had this for the last 5 years now and nore hubby or children have ever had it. Only me! I've tried everything. I think now the medication has stopped working to.. Have you got rid of yours? I keep my house clean and wash all the time. It must be that the worms don't leave my body!! Help please.....
Yes we had success with getting rid of them for quite some time. My daughter then went on to secondary school. We had no problems during first year of new school at all which was great. She is now in her second year. Just recently she said she thought she could feel wriggling and although neither of us could see anything there, I put her back on the parasite program as a precaution. I know that my daughter's immune system has been impaired all her life, since she was a baby and I put it down to 3 lots of antibiotics I had to take during pregnancy. Her immunity is slowly improving as she gets older but is still not 100 %. I have been told that because of this, if she gets an odd threadworm, her body finds it difficult to destroy them and they start to multiply. Of course, it only takes an accidental finger up the nose and then into the mouth to transfer them to the gut but in most people the immune system deals with it or it gets passed out when you go to the loo . So ours is a slightly more complicated case but I have her back on the herbs at six monthly intervals and it seems to keep them away. I am happy though that she does not have vast numbers of them anymore. It could be that you are never getting rid of them entirely because over counter medications do not kill the eggs and they defininitely lay eggs inside the body as well as outside. So you get relief for a while but then the leftover eggs hatch and start to multiply again, in which case one of the herbal programmes should work for you. It is a pain but why not try eating fresh pineapple chunks everyday when you are really starving hungry. Then follow it down with the pumpkin seeds. Take the two mebendazole tablets as instructed one week apart. Once you have finished with the tablets, after about a week or so, get yourself on a program of herbs that you feel are safe for you and do this constantly for six months. With the herbal programs, you take the herbs for about 18 days then you only take the herbs once a week from there on as maintenance, so it gets easier. But you shouldn't be able to feel the worms by day 18. If you do, that will tell you one of two things. You are either constantly reinfecting or the infestation is so bad that you need to up the amount of herbs you are taking. Hopefully though by taking the initial two mebandazole, you will have killed a lot of them and then by finishing off with the herbs that will be the end of it and any left over eggs will be killed. While this is going on, try to identify the cause. i.e. never put fingers into mouth, bedroom must have a one off major damp dust/hoover/bed sheets washed, all rooms in house are cleared of dust once a week by damp dusting etc. Threadworm eggs live in dust on surfaces. Hoover entire house once a week. It is a very stressfull thing, but people have been getting these parasites for hundreds of years.
