Finally broke down!

After 7 weeks of little to no sleep every night, I had my Dr. Prescribe some sleeping pills today. I tried everything I could think of and that had been suggested to no avail. There's nothing wrong with having to take sleeping pills, I was just hoping not to. So will see how tonight goes!! Anyone else out there not sleeping?

I am not sleeping, pain in muscle and groin, just had a warm milk, some biscuit and morphine see if that helps was expecting this as this is my 2 nd hip, I had it done yesterday afternoon and going try some reading got a nice romance going lol

when i come home i could not sleep at all. now im taking sleeping pills and am sleeping about 6 hours a night and am so glad.. i rather take the sleeping pills than laying awake all night but thats was me

Hi Carla

I havn't slept well at at all for the last few years.

I am 7 months post op on my left hip and still can't sleep because of the cronic pain in my right hip which has got worse since the cold damp weather has hit.

I am lucky if I can get a copuple of hours even during the day now. I am almost running on empty.

I am on so many pain merds and at such a high does that I thought it might help but no as soon as I try to move to get comfortable there goes the hip pain again. My operated side has decided to join in now tooo because I can no longet mobalise. So I know what you mean about no sleep.sad

Hi carla

I still use sleeping pills after 8 weeks post op so don't feel too bad.

There is nothing orse than lying awake all night, tossing and turning.

A good night's sleep makes us feel better and more able to cope/ confused

Hi marilyn,

Sorry about your  pain.

Hope you got a few zzzz s

Here's hoping today goes well.

Hugs

Shirley

Hi hailea,

How are you? Can you give us an update?

I keep losing the plot a bit since my op redface

Know what you mean about the weather.

I used to dread the winter gales because it would rack up the hip pain.

Still got my butt pain even though I am 8 weeks post op now but that is my own fault for going round Tesco with a trolley yesterday.

Try breathing exercises throughout the day when you do your leg exercises this will relax you and at night help you sleep

good morning carla, and I sincerely hope it is -

please don;t feel guilty about taking them or beating yourself up for not being able to  sleep without them -

Sometimes we need some help to break the cycle -

warm hug on this chilly day

i am 8 weeks post op but get Tesco to deliver, they carry everything through to kitchen and empty baskets.  i have 3 more weeks before i can b

bend so its great to have food delivered

Lack of sleep has been my main problem post op, but not too bad....you must not feel bad about taking medication for a while...also not sleeping can almost become a habit , your body continues to wake even when the problem has gone! The meds will also help if that is becoming an issue.

take care.....jane

hi quail

Yes i have an ocado order once a week but I just felt like going round Tesco for a few light bits and pieces I don't get out enough!redface

Hello Marilyn,

I am really glad you are through the op. You are very good

to let us know how you are doing, I couldn't  have got on

my iPad  so soon, I was too pre-occupied retching. I hope

the light reading distracts you. They've probably got you up

by now.keep doing well

love from Cathie

I can't take painkillers, but have HALF a 1mg lorenin,

a very small dose, to sleep at night. I don't think it is any

more addictive than painkillers. If you have been prescribed

pills you can split them with your nail, and you might find that

half a pill works as well as a while pill. You can cope much

better after a night's sleep.

good luck Cathie

I am pleased at week 5 to now be driving, as it takes longer with

the right than the left hip. The consultant moved both my feet

inwards, said my inward rotator muscle was working, and ok-d

me to drive.

Hi Carla, I am 8wks post op,lack of sleep has been a big problem for me also , nothing seems to aid sleep even though I can sleep on my non op side as long as I want. I am active during the day, walking, swimming , plus all the usual things I did before , housework, grandchildren to collect from school etc. I do make sure I have "me time ", so why doesn,t the "elusive" sleep happen. Your suggestions would be most welcome from any of you other hippies. Xxx suzy

Suzybobs, I've tried everything, all the over the counter meds out there, essentials oils, shutting TV and all devises off an hour before bedtime. I work 8 hours a day and do physical therapy every night, so I'm always tired, I just can't get comfortable and toss and turn all night 😞 took my first sleeping pill last night, slept for 8 hours, woke up 3 times to reposition but fell right back to sleep and woke up feeling refreshed and ready to go. 😀

It helps to know that there are a lot of us on this roller coaster ride.

On a side note; praying for Paris, so sad of all the terror going on right now.

Hi Shirley

i havnt vent been posting much because the pain is so bad it is difficult to get comfortable. There is no change except for the fact that I am in worse pain and I again phoned my surgeons secretary and my GP toast week and still nothing. My GP even wrote to my surgeon over 4 weeks ago they never replied.

so other than being in constant worse agony than ever nothing I am taking will take away nothing has changed.

I just oust don't want to keep coming on here posting the same thing and being miserable. So I am just posting when I feel up to it.

Thankyou for. Asking x

Hi Hailea,

Really sorry about your pain. I do understand how you feel.

Will be thinking about you.

Shirley

Yes I always think when I,m just laying there wide awake in the early hours just how many of us are in the same position, so there,s a little comfort in that. Yes so sorry for all the victims &families in the Paris tragedy my thoughts &prayers are with them all x suzybobs
