Finally going for colonoscopy and endoscopy

Well I've finally taken the plunge Truly hope I can get some answers after 6 months of loose stools

So scared but had to face my fears

I so feel for everyone struggling with ibs in whatever form. The worry each day of what will be in the bowel makes me anxious and how do you calm yourself when you having ongoing problems

Changing diet although a good thing for health concerns me as I don't want to keep loosing weight

But what fattening foods can you eat?

Any gluten sugar free recipes or weight gaining foods - any suggestions

Cheers

Be prepared for normal results in your tests if you have been diagnosed with

IBS. You cannot get this diagnosis until other conditions have been ruled out. IBS doesn't show up in scans because it is functional problem. However, this is good news and shows you have no serious condtions to worry about.

In the end, you may have to learn to accept your IBS and the disordered bowel habits it brings. I have IBS C and have learned to accept whatever bowel movement I get on a daily basis because it is better than nothing.  Sometimes I get no bowel movement for days and I accept this too because I can treat it by eating fruit and I know that eventually, I will pass the backlog in one go.

Hi rhonda:  stand down (as they say in the military) your fear is probably the worst thing you are going to have to face.  Take slow deep breaths and do something you enjoy to lower your fee and stress levels.  I'm sooooo happy you opted for the procedure.  You will feel so much relief after it's over and it will be over in no time.  I know I was scared both times but practically danced out of the hospital knowing that my colon was clear and altho I have IBS, we know from trial and error, that can be somewhat controlled by diet and lowering out stress.  Keep us informed and feel free to to keep in touch.  When is your appointment?

Hi well spoke to the doctor prior to the procedure and she thought it was either PI IBS OR SIBO

Thank god nothing sinister showed up - she's taken biopsies for celiac pylori and bowel colitis.

She has put me on flagyl to see if that may help my stools but if not have to stick to fodmap diet and just live with it.

On a good note my stool tests which were done last week show no evidence of semonella and no blood.

I'm so relieved but so exhausted - had only 2 hours sleep last night and the bowel prep wasn't fun as most know. I wouldn't recommend picosalax as it didn't work as well as glucoprep.
