After waiting two hours past the appointment time due to him running behind I managed to meet the surgeon for the first time since the op.
He was looking a little flustered since it was now 18:00 and didn't have much time to chat - asked me to remove trousers and lie on the bed.
Then proceeded to put my leg in all the places we are told not to during the first 6 weeks - ouch!
Said everything was going very well and given some further advanced exercises to stretch the ligaments and muscles.
All restrictions other than golf (which I dont play anyway) and disco dancing(ha ha) lifted so I can cycle, swim and drive (already doing this anyway!).
Asked to do the new exercises for two months and then return for final xray and hopefully the all clear.
Sounds good...tho me I never met the surgeon afterwards ever. As we keep saying, practices vary hugely between hospitals
Interesting about golf which I've never thought of as a restricted sport before. I was told about bungee jumping and someone else about horse riding - as not to do list.
Glad all going well. From what you wrote earlier I suss you'll continue to make a speedy recovery
I interpreted this as 'don't play golf just yet' not 'don't play golf ever'. I think the muscles and ligaments need to recover further - he said to avoid excessive twisting actions until I return in two months.
Getting my bike out tomorrow - haven't ridden for around 3 years. Can't bloody wait.
Well done Mark, I drove for the first time yesterday since around last October.. I was like a kid with a new toy let a lone a new car. Another achievement. Without this op I don't think I would ever have driven again. Let us know how the bike goes.xx
