getting up at 6 again was a shock to the system. I had a fairly gentle morning, doing the IT work but my first job was to deal with the 900 plus e-mails that had collected during my absence. Next day is Thursday when I will still be doing IT. Next week comes the Hurley burley of lab work

how long were you off work after your op hun, I know every one is different.

The op was 10 April, so just on 12 weeks. Phased return over 3-4 weeks. I have already used Occ Health to get a fast referral to physio, as I need help with the limp.

900 emails good grief didn't anyone else take on your work while you were off?

A lot were what is known within the hospital as broadcast, they go to everybody, and can contain anything from appeals for missing patient notes, details of road hold ups, and general notices. 

I do have some catching up to do though!

No such luck. No coffee, tea or buns allowed in a microbiology lab, I did have an extra long break though

How was it to be back at work? besides the 900 emails .... do you have a good office chair - did you get up and move around a lot .. how many hours did you work today?

I worked 5 hours including a coffee break.Chair adjustable, spent some time chatting, catching up on lab and hospital politics plus the important matter of organising my holidays for the next few months. Next week I will be reading culture plates some of the time, probably the urine cultures

Mmmmm I think I will be in the same boat in regards to emails, think I might sit at home and delete a few before I get back !!
