First day experience after taking Mirtazapine for anxiety

hi, i am 24 year old female. i have suffered with my anxiety for a year and a half now, it has mainly affected my sleep. previously had CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) to help. but i felt it has been worsening over the last few months. so i got into contact with my doctors and they have prescribed me mirtazapine (15mg) my first time on any kind medication like this. i took my first tablet last night at 8pm, i was asleep within an hour and a half and slept right through til 6:40am. which i thought was great, as i havent been able to do this for so long. but the affect it has had on me today has been dreadful, it got to 5pm and i started to feel abit more human, i could barely move off the sofa, i have had no energy what so ever. now i know these are just some of the symptoms. but my question is how long does it take for them kick in and for you to start feeling human?

I was just reading the side affects of your medication and i can list the side affects for you; more common side affects include; drowsiness, constipation, dizziness, dry mouth, increase appetite, weight gain. Now heres the catch, if you experience any of the following symptoms, you are supposed to contact your doctor immediately; Decreased or increased movement, mood or mental changes including abnormal thinking, agitation, anxiety, confusion and feelings of not caring, shortness of breath, skin rash, swelling.

Sounds to me as if you fit the criteria for calling your doctor immediately as you have decreased movement for sure, and maybe some other symptoms listed as well.

It takes 1 to 2 weeks if used to treat insomnia. To treat depression it takes 6 - 8 weeks to be fully effective. if you are experiencing those symptoms after only one use… i would call my doctor immediately as something is not right

I take 15 mgs of mirtazapine to help me sleep too. The Dr told me it would take several weeks for the next day effects ie a spacey feeling, extreme tiredness, and lethargy to wear off. As I was working then I couldn’t carry on taking this amount so cut it in half and found this sufficient to help me sleep. A few years later I now need the full dose to get the same effect.
I hope this helps a bit.
