I expected pains around where they did the incisions for the laproscopy, however, I didn't expect the same kinds of pains in my stomach as I had pre op.
I still feel pains and crampiness in my stomach.
It makes me concerned. Has anyone else experienced this? Were you concerned that it was something worse?
This is normal. They have to pump a gas inside you to see where they are operating. It will dissipate. Move around as much as you can and try and relax. It will get better soon.
Yes I felt bad for a 2-4 weeks but I was in bad shape before! Hang in there you will feel better
Hi had my operation last month on the 33rd of July. Im still getting pain in my belly button and soreness it gets very warm in the evening. I’m still taking pain medication to give me relief. I know where your coming from with this. It’s not pleasant I know! And extreme fatigue. I’m resting and moving about. If I do too much I’m exhausted.
I’m taking some vitamins to help and digestive enzymes to help me with diary and foods I’m eating. I only manage small low fat meals. Nothing big at all.
I hope 🤞 this has helped your not alone. I will see how I go with this. Any worries see the Doctor that’s what I will be doing. Avoid lifting, I’ve done some clothes washing probably not the best idea. I find if I’ve bent too much or just generally over done things it makes the pain worse. Keeping a dairy of foods that effect me as well. Good luck 😉 Joanne
Did all of you still have stomach pains when trying to eat? Or had gas pains slight nausea after eating?
I am day 2 post op and am on a liquid diet and my stomach is still acting up. Is that typical?
Anyone? I sure could use your help on what your experience was like.
Thank you
Hi I’m empathise with you completely I had most of the same symptoms as yourself. I stayed on soft foods, for over two weeks. Mashed foods potato etc, porridge, weetabix and rice pudding soups. Stick to this and it helps to avoide gas build up and especially from the gas they put in us due the operation. Probiotics drinks helped settle my stomach. Small meals little and often plenty of drinks juices to keep hydrated. Holland and Barrate do a Activated Charcoal tablet are fantastic for the gas build up. Eventually get digestive enzymes from health food shops to help with diary consumption to help the absorption in the guy easier. Hope this helps anything else just message me take it easy your not alone. Kind regards Joanne
Thank you so much, Joanne. I keep reading so many conflicting stories on how it is after gall bladder removal. Some say there isn't supposed to be any pain, while others say they only had small bits of pain.
I have had loads of gas pains and I am very weary of eating because I know that's going to cause problems. (more gas pains at the very least, but could also be nausea).
It's made me question myself and wonder if I'm really bad off or if there is something more wrong with me.
I appreciate you writing back very much. It does help so much to hear that someone else is going through the same thing and I'm not worse off than I fear.
Once again, thank you!!
Hi your so welcome! Try not to worry it’s not easy I know. Your certainly not alone feeling ill. I was feeling very worried by the amount of pain I went through after the operation. But this is a bigger operation than people realise and as the doctors at the hospital exsplained to me, it takes time for the body to repair itself from nerve damage and the stomach muscles etc sorry if I’m being to graphic. Any operation or cut to our body is a shock to the system.
I’ve been like yourself nervous to eat. But keep to the soft foods and small amounts for two weeks. Your body will naturally let you know when it’s ready to eat more.
I found Bannana good and smoothies filled me up with Bananas and strawberries 🍓in semi skimmed milk. Any fruit really. I avoided the frozen fruit, as this upset my stomach. Glad I could help. Chat again Joanne
