OMG I so misread line 5........
Thank you mic. May I presume you are male? If so when did you start wearing knickers and are they your wife's? At 7 weeks still can not do socks and still sitting down to do undies and trousers. But today able to go down stairs in a normal way but not up. Still on 2 poles when out but I live on a hill making the return difficult. Try to record 3.5 miles daily on phone app. iPhone 6 does not seem to record steps only miles or km. see my surgeon a week today but not expecting to have all restrictions lifted
Maybe the next week will show a huge improvement

Hi mic, valerie...(we know whats on your mind
,alll,
Now at 8 weeks post op so.... phonne alaarm goes off, 5:45 am , drag weary butt out of bed, get washed/ showered, just about get knickers on standing up... realise what i've done and switch for boxers then rest of clothes( socks still a huff n puff event). Coffee, toast... out the door to work... roll on the weekend. Work at this stage quite hard esp since quite physical job makin fibreglass prototype car panels. Still got to earn a crust

Hi Mic
glad you feel soooo positive. I am at 7weeks post op and starting to feel alive again. Can shower and get dressed all except socks but it takes ah
while. Am eating too much so weight piling on so buying exercise bike soon. Looking forward to a trip to France in a few weeks and hope can be comfortable in camper van!!!
something funny happened at my 7week check up. We decided to walk around Truro after my consultation and my husband noticed that nearly everyone either had a pair of crutches or one! They must be doing record levels I hip replacements.
ok, 9 weeks post op.. wake up around 6 or 7.. no alarm for me as I work from home.. scoop kity litter boxes Yayy couldnt do that till couple weeks ago.. feed dogs and cats, all by myself..get dressed.. sometimes standing, most times sitting(for knickers) take 2 dogs for walk at same time yayyy can finally do it.. come home, sit in front of puter working,, get up periodically to let dogs out(which includes 3 flights of stairs) or to get a cookie.. 1 pmish, take dogs for another walk.. come home , scoop kitty litter again, feed them, sit at puter again.. couple hours later, shower time, my dinner.. then a little tv, then bed, which is so heavenly.. even tho it is by myself lol, or with a dog.. I love my days, I truly do. I dont need any help at all now.. except to get sock on my op foot, but it is summer now so dont really need them.
Thanks for the update mic really pleased you are doing so well and thanks too for those replies that made me lol! And I agree with the girls why are you and Jay wearing knickers I always thought blokes, pants - girls, knickers.
I'm week 14 and doing gardening, mowed our daughters lawn at the weekend, walking round the block with the grandchildren and doing a few km on the exercise bike. Wish I could do more but unfortunately although my new hip is great the other needs to be replaced as well.

Hi,
I could put my socks and tights on at 10 weeks (and standing up too). Its now 5 months and I can kneel up and down, get up and down stairs normally and do all the stepping exercises on my Wii Fit Plus and some of the balance ones as well. Nearly up to strength with swimming. All I need now is for it to stop raining!
Best Barbara
Hi Barbara
Isn't kneeling and then standing up using either leg ace!
Aproaching 10 weeks and standing up for putting on jeans is fine. I help my balance thru Alexander technique and tia chi
We say 'knickers' here at home as a generic term ...and 'panties' for the skimpy underwear wife wears! My underwear is casual bright colors from Kininki cos don't like high st mens wear much.

Glad to have sorted out the knicker issue. I know you are a resident of hippy land but where exactly? 7 weeks tomorrow and still sitting for dressing and not tried kneeling yet. Obeying all restrictions till I see the Hippy in chief next week. Hoping for promotion
Hi Dawn. How do you bend over to feed your cats? I try to put my op leg straight behind me without bending since I can't bend over yet.
Any suggestions?
Glad to know you are making strides.
Yes that is how I do it.. op leg behind me, dont want to take any chances : ) Op leg behind me and .. good leg bent in front of me so I can rest my arm on it to balance myself, scoop in other hand, there is some bending at waist but not breaking 90 degree rule
Hi Ann
Living in hippy hoppy land and also in Exeter...now nearly 3 months stronger post op. Lucky no elasticated stockings here...and at 6 week check in the 90 degree rule relaxed.
Warm regards
Mic

Well I did not know some men in the UK wore knickers would never have picked up that tit bit if I had not moved to hippy land. Wonder if I will get the green light next week, prepared for him to say week 12. Think my new hip is a weather barometer as it hurts when it rains. Having to walk in doors today as very windy and I might get blown of course
Have a good day
Hi hippies! This post and replies have so cheered me up! 😀
Thank you so much! I was worried that I might be doing it the wrong way and putting my hip at risk.
keep up the good work....

Hi miele
I put my cat food on top of a plastic storage box with a plastic tablecloth taped around the top. It stands about 2 1/2 feet tall. I've fed them on this since my op and still doing it nearly 15 weeks later as its easier and prevents having to bend down.
This discussion has given me a great big cheeky grin. Thank you.
at 7 weeks I'm now putting Knicks and trousers on sat down though. I can out my own socks on however which I'm right proud of! I use a dining room chair and place my knee on it. I then lean back and round and hook the sock on and then stand up and pull it up. Yay! Walking about a mile every day to get daughter from school. Did a mile and half today in the rain from physio to school and then home. Feeling really chuffed with my progress. I just wish the swelling would go down. I've still got a god awful bulge on my thigh the size of a clenched fist. It doesn't hurt when stood but when I tried to drive it really hurt against the seat. Looking at that as more excuse to walk and burn calories and will try it again in a week or so.
i really love hearing the stories of what us hippies get up to!
