Well, at 3.75 weeks, have just walked to coffee shop for breakfast without crutches - first outside walk without. According to my app on phone, I covered 1577 steps too on this journey. About 2 kilometers?
Feel tired but happy. Imagine some of you did this at two weeks, others at 5 weeks, but I needed to do this today and felt ready - so I did.
And now to bed to rest!
Still plan to use crutches on longer longer walks and defo on trip to London with tube trains early in May even, which will be scary.
Did you manage all those steps without a limp - or aren't you worreid about posture? I'm 3 weeks today but am keeping to one or two crutches to stay exactly upright without a limp!
Hi. Thanks for your messaging. I'm due to have total left hip replacement this may. So far I have watched 4 YouTube videos regarding the surgery. And few videos on the after care. I have tried talking to friends about my worries and concerns. But because their not going through this. Most of. Them ignore me. Not even given me the support I was looking for. So far my boy friend giving me support. And 2 good family friends. That is why I joined this forum
To discuss with people thats had the surgery. Or about to have the surgery. Your message as helped me so far. Course I am able to add up the healing time. Was you able to walk on the same day as the surgery. Or did you have to wait, till the next day. Again many thanks.
Hi Sally - don't think I'm limping but did Alexandra posture lessons pre op, and restarting in two weeks time to ensure I'm walking smoothly.I've walked round home for several days sans crutches, but like I said even at 9 weeks I plan to use TWO crutches on London underground! And, today was a good benchmark too....
Gilly, good luck with the op. This forum gives a very different kind of peer support to that from family and friends - those who are going thru a pretty unique experience! Walking for me was 24 hours post op, others less, others more, where are you being done?
Congratulations Mic!!!! I think I am spot on when I predict that your rest afterwards was a particularly extra sweet one? And you woke up stronger. Life is good!
Oh my gosh!! I can't believe at under 4 weeks you did alll that!! Is it maybe that I'm older than you?? 56 years young. Or is it hat I had "Cellutis"? I feel as if I'm lagging behind others. My surgery date was March 9th.
