I had my first period when I was a little over fifteen and a half and had not had one since. But today (I am now eighteen) I just started my period and it has been about two and a half years. My mom says there is nothing to worry about but I am not sure. Should I see a doctor?
Something similar happened to me and it turned out I had polycystic ovarian syndrome. But I had other problems as well. Like when I had my periods, there was no fresh blood just old and they would last about 2 weeks, then I would have no period for months. I also suffered with bouts of acne, very painful tummy pains and I used to sweat a lot. If your periods are very irregular, very heavy or unusual, very painful and if you get bad acne or put on weight easily or get quite sweaty, just ask your doctor to get a blood test for your hormones to see if you have an imbalance. If your periods are normal from now on, I don’t think you have to worry too much. But if it is really worrying you it can’t hurt to talk to your doctor.
