Hi every one I've been taking orlistat now for 4weeks and have my first weigh in 2morrow I have only lost 4pounds tho just wondering if any one could tell me what kind of diet there on with these tablets I have stuck to salads and fruit and healthy eating really , but do you need some fat so that the tablets can work? Any help wil be sooooo grateful thanks x
A realistic target to aim for is a weight loss of 1-2 lbs a week, and you've done well to achieve this so far. If your meals contain no fat content, then you do not need to take an orlistat capsule. They "work" by minimising how much fat is absorbed in the intestines, so if you don't consume a fatty meal there is no point in taking a dose. However they only block about 25% of the absorption so on their own they are not going to be enough. In terms of diet, a recommended fat intake of about 30% of your total daily calories is recommended. So for a female on a 2000 calorie/day diet, approx 600 calories can be derived from fats.

Thank you I hope I can achive my target weight soon x
My first weigh in was today and I've also lost 2.5kg, just over 4lb. I'm told this is a good start, so lets congratulate ourselves for not putting anything on!!
Hi sam66 this is a great achievement I'm my eyes any lose is a bonus just keep doing what your doing!! I ha my first weigh in last week and I had lost 6lb, also it's not just the weight that changes I was told by my gp that even tho one week we may only lose a 1lb we could also be losing inches so its best to take measurements of your arms, waist, legs, and chest.. Well done folks
