Hello...just joined the group this afternoon! I'm five days out from peroneal tendon repair on the right foot and phalangeal head resection of pinky toe on the left foot. Now I see why everyone at the hospital looked at me like I was crazy when I said I was there for both feet! Anyway, both feet are wrapped up in huge dressings. I have my first follow up appointment tomorrow; will they possibly put smaller dressings on? Maybe casts? I so hope so...these are crazy heavy and hot, and keep trying to come loose.
Hi B:
Welcome to the group! I wish I knew more about your condition to be able to help. How long are you going to be laid up?
Get everyone you know to wait on you hand, foot and finger. Have your phone, computer and all your favourite things within easy reach. Best wshes. Must be very hard with both feet out of commission but you will make progress.
Thank you...it's hard though! I've always been an independent little cuss, lol.
Well, I have rheumatoid arthritis which in my case seems to attack my tendons and ligaments. On the right foot, they repaired a big shredded tear on the peroneus brevis tendon. On the left foot, all the ligaments were gone on the pinky toe so it dislocated all the time and the bones ground together. They did a phalangeal head resection on that toe so it will stay in place and lie flat.
I have a really physical job and usually work eight ten-hour night shifts in a row. I have a knee scooter (nwb right foot) and originally hoped to be back at work in two weeks but frankly...I don't know if that's going to happen. Left foot is still too sore to even think about propelling myself around with it for that amount of time.
Thanks for your reply!
Sounds like you need a little time to rest, recuperate and take care of yourself! You have a lot on your plate right now. Hope you are feeling better today.
Hi, how are you doing now
Better, thanks. Not so sore. Got the sutures out and the incisions are healing well. I worry I'm putting too much weight on my right foot (tendon repair) but I guess the best you can do is the best you can do. I live in a tri-level so stairs whichever way I go! I love using my scooter though, I feel so free on it!
