Flare?

So I was diagnosed it Dec 2015 and was put on pentasa and a course of steroids and have thankfully been well since.

The past week I have had stomach cramps on and off and looser stools than normal.

Is this a flare? I'm really unsure what to do, do I wait and see how I go or contact my IBD nurse?

Hi Sarah, 

I would just to be on safe side contact your IBD nurse. Better to get it nipped in the bud now in case it is a flare, least it can be sorted then

Have you experienced any blood yet?

Generally I would say that was a turning point to know if it’s a flare? You could just have a regular stomach bug and it might pass.

There is not a great deal the IBD nurses can do other than take a blood test but if you don’t have any blood  they might not.

From experience worrying in this situation could cause a flare up.... I do it all the time because I don’t like steroids. Just finished a 9 week course of them. 😬

Hello sarah, i would either go to my gp or contact ibd nurse its better to catch a flare early than to wait til your in a full blown flare, good luck mate 🤞
