Flatulence Issue

Hello everyone This is really embarrassing for me, but I don’t know what to do. In August 2019, I was on a 3 day school trip together with my class and I drank a lot of alcohol and Cocio. (I drank more alcohol and Cocio on those 3 days than the rest of my life combined) After the school trip I’ve had issues with how terrible my flatulence is. When I’m at home my flatulence is fairly normal and it is similar to what it was before the trip and it is virtually always relatively loud and fairly odorless. But when I leave my home and go to crowded places my dead silent flatulence gives a disgusting and foul smell. It has completely destroyed my self confidence and I’ve become seriously depressed. Last year I had to leave my school because of this issue. A few months ago I went to a gastrointestinal specialist, and they performed a sigmoidoscopy on me and said everything was normal. I also had a lactose intolerance test and these results were also normal. On the 21st October 2020 I'll have an appointment to a specialist again. I would appreciate it if you could help me.

hi Lukas, if you are worried ring your doctor and ask for some advice or support. they may not be able to do anything until you’ve had another hospital appointment. have you got any other symptoms? if so write them down. you could have the very starts of IBS?

Lukas, you may need to look at your diet. You know that alcohol and/or Cocio give you flatulence so maybe leave them out of your diet for 2 weeks and see if things are better. Try to keep a food diary and cut out one item of food each 2 weeks. If no change then reintroduce that food and cut out another. You may then identify what is causing this. Do you chew your food well? or do you eat quickly, bolting it down and swallowing air? Air that goes in has to come out the other end.
It could be the start of IBS as sam has said, but an exclusion diet often finds its one or two specific foods to blame.

Hi Sam
It is a possibility that I have IBS, (my father also has IBS, although his symptoms are different than mine)

Hi Marina
The weird thing is that I haven’t drunk any alcohol or Cocio after the incident.
And thank you for the idea of a food diary, I’m definitely going to try that out.
