floaters and flashes, examined in eye hospital,

Had floaters for couple of decades, 60 now, and got some new floaters about a week ago in one eye, and this time though with flashes and still do, not there all the time with the flashes, but every day and read about the possible detached retina symptoms or tear. Went to eye hospital and got drops put in and they examined all the eye, retina etc…Said all looked normal, Flashes can just be accompanied by floaters when the virteous stuff leaks a bit, not necessarily a detached retina. Sez it may continue but all fine as regards the eye health in general. I can put up with the floaters even though annoying as a couple of the blobs pass in front of my eye, dancing around, but the flashes still worry me a bit, but hospital says all ok, do i still worry>??

I believe what you have is a PVD,posterior vitreous detachment,I have had that in both my eyes, even after several years I still have some symptoms. Until its fully detached,I don’t think its that unusual for flashes to continue for awhile. Might be a good idea to read about PVDs and also symptoms if a detached retina as in some cases a detached retina can happen.

Are you on any medications for anxiety? Depression? Hear disease? Allergies? Some meds for these conditions - not all meds - are known to cause visual problems.

If you’re on any of these, I suggest you keep taking them but at a lower dose. That may fix the problem.
Best of luck.
