floored by Pregablin

started on 75mg last night. its floored me today had to phone in work sick. I felt drunk from waking at 7 until around 2pm. bad bad

GP started me on 75mg twice a day, made me so ill I had to stop them and ended up in hospital because my anxiety spiralled out of control. It took a phychiatrist to question why I was ever given such a dose to start and because of strong reaction they weren't for me but everyone is different!

omg yes that is a high dose. I have been told to titrate it up to 150mg a day but 75mg has thrown me. I am supposed to up it after a week but feel I might wait and see how I do on 75mg I cant keep phoning in sick x

dont touch it, have you read some of the comments about people being on it for years and cannot withdraw, I took 28x 25mg caps, over 21days am addicted, it blows your mind. I have just got liquid pregab with a syringe, easier to get an accurate dose, I had been opening a capsule and removing some of the drug but you get a yoyo effect, it has made me so ill, all side effects listed plus more not listed, if you value your sanity and health, whatever state it might be right now, don't do it. my pain is worse than being in labour, I wish you well xx rosie.

hello celt34, don't do it,    see my reply to kay56561  there has to be something easier .rosie xx

it is trial an error and everyone is different I know alot of patients who do well on it just didnt expect thud of day light on day one. I would tell people to not use prozac because its horrendous I almost had a stroke needed a ct scan after taking it. its crazy these drugs. the psychiatrist has explained that this is long term for me alongside long time therapy to put right my childhood wrongs x

Hi Kay, I am sorry that you have been so unlucky with prevailing.....I have been on 300mg ... twice daily 150mg and had no problems whatsoever.  I take them for pain relief, but my son takes 500mg daily for anxiety... he has  severe ...ocd. and....crippling social phobia, he too luckily has had no problems.

You are unfortunate that they have not helped you, but keep trying until you find something that does.

I wish you good luck and good health...x.  Deirdre

I am not stopping them its only day 1 just shocked at the hit from side effects. I am gonna continue with them. the side effects wore off this afternoon. spoke to a pharmacist who said its normal and to stick with it as it eases off. but not to go to twice daily too soon so that's my plan. I believe in my psychiatrist and the benefits of them after a long period of social phobia, low mood and bipolar tenancies all created by my anxiety.  I will let you know how I get on. thank you for your message you have inspired me to keep going x

Hi Kay,

It really will get better and it can make a huge difference to your mood

(It turned my son's life around) once you start to feel better you will find that everything will begin to improve.

Keep your chin up ! With the very best and very sincere wishes to you, hope to hear from you happy and healthy....hugs..Deirdre x

thank you...just took my second dose and foggy head has returned.  but being totally honest this is better than without the tablet...foggy is not driving myself mad with fears and negative thoughts.

onwards I go xxx

I was offered pregabalin recently by my psychiatrist for my quite severe anxiety to try to replace my diazepam but when I looked at the list of side effects and read some peoples experiences of the drug I decided that i would rather not try it. Luckily my psychiatrist is very understanding and let me continue the diazepam.  It has no side effects and agrees with me.  yes it is addictive but then from what i am reading pregabalin is addictive too so I'd rather have diazepam

I was prescribed gabapentin over Lyrica so that I can have a chance of working thru my painful condition without intolerable Lyrica side effects at the starting dose. The lowest dose of gabapentin that is typically effective for neuropathic pain is 1800 mg daily. Starting dose will almost always lead me to feel the intolerable drowsiness and an intoxicated sensation of disequilibrium and confusion.

We I start gabapentin on a slow taper up in dosing to avoid these intolerable side effects

my doc gave me a typical starting regime to start on gabapentin 100 mg three times a day, or 300 mg at bedtime for a few days and then very gradually increase the dose over a couple of weeks or more to a dose of 600 mg three times daily

I do not get adequate pain relief at doses much lower than 1800 mg daily of gabapentin.  Increasing the dose much faster almost guarantees  that I will stop therapy due to these side effects. Using Lyrica before beginning gabapenden helps give me a better chance with the starting dose that will help with my pain. If I need a higher dose the Lyrica can be increased much faster than gabapentin without causing constant sedation and that drugged out feeling.
