I know we have to be careful about infection after a THR with things like dental treatment etc. and wondered if anyone knew how that affects having the annual flu jab. (I'm in UK). I'm 8 weeks post op and doing well and the advice seems, as usual, to be conflicting.
Iv had both this year seems ok
Hi marion,
I thought you were much too young to have the flu jab.😆
I am going for my six week check on Monday week and I too am not sure so will ask him.
Oooh ... that's one I'll have to ask about as I am prone to bleeding now as I have been found to be low on a clotting factor that starts the whole clotting process.
Hi Marion can't see why having the flu shot would be a problem as it's a vaccination to ward of a virus and something that could cause problems after hip replacement would be bacterial.
Just ask your GP but I'm sure they will say get it done
Thank you. That gives me confidence.
I'm 66 Jen but thanks for the compliment. I don't dwell on what is says on my birth certificate. Just live your life and get on with things. It keeps you young! My grandchildren appreciate my outlook and we have great fun together. Mind you, my 3 kids tell me I'm a bad influence (in the nicest possible way and with smiles on their faces).
Thank you, Dawron. I forget to ask at my 6 week check up.
Good point. Thank you.
They actually gave me my flu shot a few hours after surgery in the hospital. So I’d assume it’s safe!
Well that's pretty definite! I'll go get it at the weekend. Thanks Katie.
