Evening knee folk....9 weeks 1 day now ....well I decided to go back to physio thinking I was going to get 6week in the gym seeing as I never needed any physio because I was miles ahead of everyone. What a shock that was! Total rest for 2 weeks no housework no gardening no walking around for hours in shops just rest rest rest and exercise bending knee and lifting Because I have a fluid build up on the knee in a few places. Feeling very disheartened but then again I've had 2 falls and a few odd twists in last few weeks plus my hip is playing up. (THR 2 years ago) my leg seems to have shrunk in length. I'm a bit worried to be honest as I also have a lot if pain , has anyone else experienced anything like this
No but am 15 weeks and still uncomfortable on outer knee. Certainly couldn't walk round shops for hours. Still hoping I too need to rest more haven't really done so since week 7 but good luck. It's all so slow and frustrating. As I was so good in morning and at weekend I am convinced rest is as important as exercise
Rest is sooo important, can't stress enough. You just do damage in the first few months if you overdo it. We all get there in the end.
Oh yes, rest and drink (water not alcohol ). Every time I have a good day I follow it up with an awful day, . My Physio says the answer is simple.....when you feel good you do too much. Keep smiling everyone.
It takes time shirley. When I had my TKR 3 years ago I was told it would be about a year before I really started feeling the benefits of it.
Now it is lilke having my life back and well worth it. It does get better I promise.
Take care
Praying for yu

Thank you everyone. Yes I think I need to rest more definitely but it's frustrating when there is so much to do. My daughter lives with me with my 8 month old grandson too I love them both unconditionally but I just wish sometimes that she would help more instead of making excuses that the baby is taking up all her time. Sorry for ranting everyone
I so agree. I did too much again yesterday and am paying for it today. The last few days the temp. Has plummeted (live in Aus) & I don't think my knees like it. Used to enjoy icing them, but not anymore- but persevere.
You are entitled to rant Shirley. This is a big operation and you need to be helped. I can appreciate that an 8 month baby does take up time but is no excuse for not helping you a bit. Babies sleep during the day so why not help out then. Your daughter should be grateful you are putting a roof over her head! Look after yourself xx
Yes Sandra I agree. The temp in Adelaide is around 16degrees and my knees definitely don't like it. I guess those of you in the northern he's hemisphere think we are wimps.
Hi Shirley I know where you are coming from ,it's like ,,you've had the op and you seem to be doing ok so get on with it ! I also feel that people are fed up of you talking about your knee now so you feel your alone with it, just because you look ok and can walk ( not properly) that you are fine ! It opens your eyes to how selfish your family can be as well when you need them most. When the time comes that your are a lot better shirley I wouldn't help her, let her get on with it and just think back to the time you really needed her. Harsh but true,,,, at least we have the forum to share our experiences ....😊
