Fluid

Has anyone had fluid on their knee 9 weeks post hip replacement?

Hi Maggi,

I have. it's very painful and I don't know why the doc won't remove it. He, or whoever, dislocated my hip torn the meniscus and he want's it to heal on its own. It's been 8 months and it's still there. It won't allow me to bend my knee.  This op has been one I'll never forget.  I'm getting a second opinion before I go crazy. Good luck to you.

Thanks Dana , I've been icing my knee constantly but no effect, I think I've been overdoing the exercise, I'll NEVER get my other hip done, to many restrictions afterwards they don't tell you before , besides I was allergic to all the opiates so I could only take Panadol , very painful

Good luck 😊

Hi Maggi,

I agree. The other one is not on the list. I'll just get an electric wheelchair and tear up the town!! LOL

Sounds good you can buy Hayley Davidson mobility  scooters now , I'd like one of them

Maggi

I still have swelling in my leg, though mostly in the calf and ankle 8 weeks after my revision. I still had a bit of swelling 5 months after my stage one revision (when they removed the old hip joint) I did find it restricted movement but exercise and keeping my leg elevated helped it to go down. I haven't iced at all.

But I still think my new hip is great. I'm almost walking without a stick, I walk for an hour every day and spend 20 mins or so on an exercise bike. I think the muscles are coming back (5 months without a proper hip joint did not do them any good) and I am slowly getting back to normal fitness.

Hopefully your hip will improve, the swelling will go down and your mobility will improve in time.

Mike

I haven't heard of them, but it sounds great!
