Just curiosu am on 40mg of fluoxetine which i take very morning since it's new years eve coming up am thinking of having like a couple of beers nothing much would it be a bad idea since am on fluoxetine also not drank alchohol in at least 3 years now so little hesistant to drink a beer or two while on 40mg of fluoxetine
I was on meds for 16 years and I certainly didn't abstain. I always enjoyed a glass of wine or beer at times. You're not meant to have alcohol, but thats the same for all medications. If you do then just try a few sips, a little, or maybe a half. Just see how you go.
No way I would do it. You are mixing an upper with a downer. You also have not drank alcohol in that long. So just not worth it to me.
If you have had a problem with alcohol abuse in the past, it might not be a good idea for you to drink, otherwise I can't see how a couple of beers could hurt. I have taken Prozac for almost 30 years, have wine and beer on occasion and haven't experienced any ill effects. I'm not an expert though, and suggest you speak to a medical professional to be sure.
