I've been prescribed fluoxetine for hot flushes which I've had for almost 20 years, been off HRT for 10 years and they still haven't gone. Fluoxetine is working but the side effects are odd. moving in the mornings, everything seems a huge effort. Had not read all the small print, only scanned it. Not usually a drinker but had an Irish coffee on holiday and felt so ill I had to be taken back to hotel so it's true, these tabs don't mix with drink. Also discovered if I don't take them with food, I almost immediately get a ferocious headache and feel very sick. The first couple of weeks I had the strangest feeling of being disconnected with myself, can't explain it any better.
Good morning. I just started taking fluoxetine about a week ago for extreme night sweats. I've been using bio-identical hormones for about 3-4 years now and having trouble tolerating them all of sudden so my GP thought we would try another route. Felt great for the most part last week - increased energy, feeling of well being in the morning (not dreading going to work) but for the past two days I feel somewhat disconnected from myself. I can totally understand your comment about being absent minded. My doctor told me to push through as the side effects would dissipate after a couple of weeks but this zombie-like feeling is tough.

I am also on HRT and fluoxetine, ive been on them for two weeks now and like you feel totally disconnected with myself i must admit its worse mornings but i just feel odd all the threads say stick with them and im trying have the doctors again in two weeks so am trying to last till then but its good to hear of someone else going throught the same (in the nicest way if you know what i mean!) let me know how you go on them keep in touch, good luck sharon
Hello I started HRT November and didn't think it done much I am axious irritable with those I love the most and tearful. The doctor has now started me on fluoxetine and said to continue with the HRT . I have been taking them for three days now, I take them at night . I feel odd like you said disconnected , just can't decided what to do and normally I am racing around. I feel a bit wide eyed and seemed a bit dithery when I was driving how Long does this last does anyone know because I feel like stopping already
