I've been on Fluoxetine for almost two weeks and I still feel sick most of the day and I'm get bad headaches with the occasional panic attack thrown in for good measure.
My GP has also put me on Lorazepam as well to help me with the panic attacks.
How long will these side affects continue as I'm at the point now where I feel worse than I did before I started taking these meds.
Thanks
Hi Matty
I know its hard to believe at the moment, but things will improve with time - on average between 6 - 8 weeks. The first month can be hellish. It takes a while for the drug to get into the system.
I've been on flu for just over a year now but can vividly remember the early stages which were not pleasant.
Stick with it buddy, it will be worth it.
Best wishes
MP
PS: To help with the sickness/nausea i found any drinks with a large quantity of ginger help greatly. Pukka make a 3 ginger tea which i used to take as a medicine but now really like. Worth a shot - and it does work.
Are you taking any form of vitamin supplement?
Hi Matty
Me again. Brain still like a sieve!!
I used to get bad headaches and nausea ones too. I found that the paracetomol remedies didn't touch them. Some people suggest Ipuprofen but this, like Aspirin should not be taken whilst on flu, but occasionally it may be ok.
What worked for me was the 4HEAD roll on stick which contains Levomenthol. May be worth a try.
Best wishes and take care.

Hi,
I've been on Flu since Oct 08 and had all the same symptoms you describe. Sickness was the worst, felt exactly like being pregnant though so I had been there before....Ginger is good as MP has said, nibbling plain biscuits helped, sipping water etc. This was followed by some sleep disturbance, yawning, itchy skin, weight loss and anxiety.
The good news is that these all disappeared gradually and by weeks 8-10 I didn't really have any physical side effects at all. The weight went back on gradually over 6 months or so. Emotionally, I felt 100 times better so it's well worth sticking with it. I'm now reducing to every other day and feel really well.
Warning - don't drink with the tablets, makes you feel awful - at least at the beginning it does...
