Hello everyone,
I'm flying from east coast to west coast 6 week pot op. I have one stop in between. Surgeon said it was OK just need to keep my socks on and take my and keep my feet moving. I'm 16 days now no walking aids in the house just cane outside. Just wondering if anyone has flown this short after surgery?
Regards Red
Look for a discussion by Bini on this about a month ago. She flew to NYC and found it rough but doable. She had some suggestions ...
Good luck.

Hi Red, I am currently 6 weeks post op....You actually sound like you are walking better than I am, but I still have another bad hip and had a fractured pelvis that had to be repaired during surgery also. I had RTHR posterior approach. With all of my problems and complications (non weight bearing for a few weeks) I could say that I could fly right now with no problems. So I would think as well as your are coming along that you will do fine....Barb
Hi,
I fly to Arizona from Manitoba Canada to have my hip replaced. I am 56.
We (daughter and I) fly back home 10 days post op. I used a wheelchair the whole time and I highly reccomend that. Reason being as airports are so busy and this way your body is protected so no one would bump into you. Also you never know what the walk may be. On the plane I got up many times and stood and walked when I could. Yes use the socks and ankle pumps if your sitting for a while. It went great actually and you will be much further along than myself. Use the wheelchair and going through security is way easier too!! Good luck!
hi Red
If your surgeon gives you clearance and you feel up to it,, it will be OK -
Ask for wheelchair assistance, like Savy suggested and perhaps a seat with more legroom -
How about travel insurance?
Sounds as if you are doing really well -

Did he tell you to take baby asprin.Dr Oz had a show on flying as that lack of mobility can really cause stagnation of blood leading to blood clots.Take the 84 mg asprin and move you legs and pump your feet up and down..Drink lots of fluids. Be well
