Flying nightmare

Hi just back from weekend break to Jersey with my new knee 14weeks now. I knew it would set off alarm but was not expecting to be manhandled and full body xray. Must say it has put me off flying I was disgusted and distressed at how they treated me even took my stick

Hi June, It's 20 years since I went to Jersey, it was the day of Diana's funeral so sticks in my mind. I have a really bad back and it was the first holiday for ten years, I had two tens machines and eight electrodes stuck to my back. There was a seven hour hold up due to a mechanical fault, we nearly came home again. I was really struggling by the time we went through, and the alarms went off. They weren't gentle with me either! It was a woman who frisked me, and I remember to this day, snarling at her, that if she loosened my leads there would be hell to pay.

I'm usually very mild tempered, not that day! I suppose in today's climate of fear, they are even more strict, but it does shake you up.

PS have two metal knees now, so it would be even louder, but I don't look much of a threat!

Just read a article and saw a video of a women getting more than just a search. Been with my wife 36 years and I never had my hands all over her like this tsa agent did that lady. I realize safety and security is very important but I feel the lines are being crossed a bit.

Hi June -- I know what you mean. I live in Florida and my mother lives in NY so I fly to Newark, NJ I have been back and forth since my mother has been very sick. I have to be x-ray and search every time. Is not a nice thing. Is a hassle to travel these days. However, I have no choice. I also have to take my dog. Sometimes my purse is put through one place someone has my dog someplace else and it gives me too much anxiety. J-21370

I'M THE TSA'S WORST NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!

I have a metal knee, a metal hip and metal from L2 through S1 in my back from spinal fusions.  Four and a half pounds in all!

Welcome to the club.  It'll happen every time.  Show them a picture of your knee and walk directly to the full body scanner.  Yes, they will test your cane for hidden contraband but you'll be getting rid of that soon anyway.

And it's not Jersey...it's "Joisey".  Geez...now I gotta teach youzeguyz howda tawk?

When I flew back in Feb. I told them and gave them my card first and they were very nice to me. I did have to have the full body xray though. Did your Dr. give you a card?

Jersey, Channel Islands. :-)

Really?  Dere's anutha Joisey?

There's a whole would  outside the U.S.

But only one Joisey...

I just told the TSA that I had a knee prothesis and they were cool with that. No Dr.'s note or anything.  Went through the usual body scan and moved on.  Now, my daughter was held up for about 20 minutes (she's not the least bit threatening) because she had hair mouse in her bag!  Go figure....this is all on east coast of US airports

Yes, I have a card. I'm thinking I had a full body xray because I was flying to Punta Cana from Canana and I'm from the US.

A little depends on the airport. I've had had everything next to but not including strip search to a simple scan with the wand. One thing that seems to be universal, don't waste your time taking the letter and card that's issued by the Dr, if indeed you got one. Keep in mind, those folks have a job to do and like some with authority, that authority can be misplaced and abused.

As far as checking your cane. With all of the ways terrorists have of hiding their methods of foul play, I'm more than happy to had over mine any time for examination. You know its harmless but those 175 other passengers don't. We are living in a different world Now so we just have to adapt if we're going to participate.

I traveled for a living all my working years. Nothing irritated me more than having the occassional passenger complain about security when I had to go through it every week.

After 2 prostate surgeries I lost my shyness. Half the triple cities area has seen me unclothed. It wouldn't bother me to drop trow right there. Lmao.

Yes, I do understand I left on vacation on July 6TH and I was searched 3 or 4 times. I did not think it would be like that. I was also disgusted. I am 19 weeks out from my surgery. Yes, I guess this is why I have to be at the airport early so that I want miss my flight.

Oh, that's so awful, I'm really sorry to hear that j21370

That's dreadful!  I have been frisked a few times and it's awful

😁😂😃😄
