Folic acid

Hi all just been to the doctors and have been told I have folic deficiency I have been given folic Acid 5mg, I origanally went to the doc as I'm always so tired and I'm gaining a lot of weight,

Dose anyone have any experience with this? Do the tablets help?

Many thanks in advance x

Flux meaning reflux?  Like gerd and heartburn?     I don't have this issue but do take a higher dose of folate not folic acid for lowering homocysteine levels in my body.

I take DGL for stomach protection from an old ulcer and I take iburpofen for pain and DGL is saving me....it's a licorice type supplement....if  you research DGL it talks about reflux and gerd and ulcer protection..... Don't go against your MD, but mine is info you'll not hear from most docs....  Joy 76 US

You need to be on top of acidic foods you consume...there are food charts you can do a search of called:  alkaline vs acidic food charts

Sugars and carbs are highly acidic, grains, high meat intake and that is something to be aware of.

I meant folic deficancy !! Sorry

hi Leanne see the help patients UK link above for a explaination of acid reflux & what meds are helpful, as well as sleeping with UR head above your stomach or a wedge u can purchase for acid reflux, and health ins. Will cover it if UR doc writes a RX for one.

try to stay away from spicy foods and take appropiate meds to control the acid coming up from UR stomach. Which feels horrible. It's like those commercials on tv where the spicy  foods  is wacking the dinner in the face... Fighting back so to speak.

I have experience with Folic Acid by way of dealing with alcoholics and folic is the vitamin that gets decimated as soon as a human swallows one drink. So post-drunk sluggishness, hangovers, bad mood... all these are because of depleted folic acid. Folic cures all these, removes headaches, restores energy, so yes expect changes for the better
