Following a sever brain haemorrage in November 2003 my husband was prescribed 5mg of Ramipril per day (from April 2004). In June 2004 he started to suffer from recurring mouth ulcers - several medications have been prescribed by our GP and a mouth and throat consultant, but the mouth ulcers remain. He sometimes feels that his tongue is swollen. In addition, he occasionally feels that his eyes are burning and one side of his face drives him mad through itching.

From reading the details, it seems highly likely to me that these symptoms could be casued by Ramipril? Neither our GP or the consultant seem to think that his symptoms are due to the medication.

I have been taking Amlodapine 2.5mg for over two years. Recently I had to increase the dosage to 5mg due to increase in blood pressure. My mouth ulcers and swollen tongue have been driving me crazy ever since. I saw an periodontist who asked me if there has been any change in my medication. Then I realized right away that I had just increased the dosage of Amlodapine and within a week I started with the side effects. Then I decided to look it up on the web for the side effects of this particular medicine. I'll not take this medicine anymore.

I have been taking 10mg daily of Ramipril for over two years. On three or four occasions I have woken up to find that I have a very sore and inflammed tongue. This has proved very difficult and painful when eating. The inflammation subsides within a couple of days or so. I have consulted my G.P. over this but he does not associate these symtoms with Ramipril or any other medication I am taking. Apart from this I have no side effects at all.
