Food advice needed for newbie

Hi, im going to be starting these pills very soon, probably tomorrow, and would like some advive on different foods to eat!! I know each meal has to be about 15g of fat, or less, but apart from the usual fruit and veg, not sure what sort of meals to have, so any advice would be greatly appreciated

My brother is getting married at the end of the year, and i am determined to wear a dress, and hopefully look good in it lol and also would like to try for a second baby next year, so lossing weight is a must for that!!!

So any advice, recipes or recommended foods would be very helpful, not ready for the gym or swimming yet as im very embarrassed about my body, and also lack of money doesnt help.. so Wii and walking at the mo is the only exercise till i can get some confidence.

Thanks for looking in on me, and hopefully for any advice

you must remember max of 30g a day and max of 15g a meal.

you can cut down on milk by drinking 1% milk or skimmed.

cheese is pretty much a no-no!

butter/marg is high fat, the lowest is flora extra light (lilac tub) but even then its still a considerable amount and not worth using if you're having something like beans/spaghetti on toast.

use low fat spray oil insted of regular cooking oil.

fresh veg has less fat than frozen, so try and stick to fresh if you can.

you'll find most supermarkets have their healthy eating range which is good to check out .

weight watchers foods on the whole are good but watch out as some are over the fat intake we're allowed as ww doesn't work on fat g's but on points.

try to mostly stick to foods which are less than 5% fat per 100g weight.

invest some time at your local supermarkets, read labels and you'll soon get used to whats OK and what isn't!

Good luck!! 8)

Hi Shazza75, welcome to the forum I advice you spending alot of time browsing looking at fat content of foods and ingredients when you go shopping.

I keep a food diary to help me keep on track. I also bought a A5 size A-Z book which I have made into my personal fat and calory counter (my nurse suggested I count calories as well). It took ages to begin with but now I only have to make a note new things and it saves time in the long run as now I look at my book to see what fat/calory content of foods and ingredients.

Spend time reading through past experiences as you will find lots of useful advice.

I find this site keeps me going as you don't feel alone in your journey and people's success postings are inspirational. There are lots of us who have a long journey ahead of us.

Try and not think of this as a diet but as a learning curve to educate yourself to a healthier lifestyle which we all need to continue so we don't pile the weight back on when we are no longer on the tablets.

Good luck smile
