Food and the thought of meals gives me panic attacks. Anyone else suffer from this?

Hi,

The thought of food and eating my meals a day causes me anxiety and panic attacks. The smell of food and taste of food makes me nauseous and then the fear comes that I'll be sick.

Does anyone else suffer this?

Has anyone got any advice for the nausea?

Thanks x

hi, Gillian. I had this a lot, last year. I had terrible anxiety and the lack of appetite was sometimes very embarrassing. My doc gave me Mirtazapine, and also Pregabalin. I have put back the weight I lost and am eating normally now, except I have a taste for sweet things such as cakes and sweets which I didn't before.

Sometimes I didn't even know whether I could eat until I sat down in the restaurant and looked at the food.

Get your GP to prescribe something for you, and remember you are not alone.

Thanks for your reply ann.

I am going to my GP tomorrow, I am on venlafaxine but doesn't seem to be helping.

I'm the same when I go to a restaurant can't relax and the anxiety starts so I try and avoid going out for meals. Then when I don't eat the anxiety starts because I havn't ate.

Nice to know I'm not alone

X
