As if things arnt bad enough I’ve now developed a intolerance to wine! As soon as I drink it my face goes bright red, I can now no longer eat sugar, dairy, and bread, things are going from bad to worse! Has anyone else experienced this in perimenopause? x

Yeah not funny at all!!! Wine food it all goes out the window with menopause, allergies food sensitivities to a whole lot of different things, body doesn't handle it anymore, I so hope that all goes back to normal once we get through this mess... 😢
yeah I understand that. I can't eat gluten or dairy I used to love my food but now I'm sick of having to think about everything I eat. one drink and I'm gone ....cheap date!!
Gypsy you are so right. About two months ago, i was able to eat just about anything but now i can barely eat anything at all. Especially if it has any trace of sugar, preservaties, etc. I get heart palpitatios, lightheaded or dizzy as soon as i eat it. My diet is so so restricted.. it saddens me. I dont know what to eat anymore. Right now, im only eating homemade chicken soup w/ veggies. Evetything is organic. It was not bothering me but now i just ate some and i get the reaction.
Me too Mary.. I get the same reactions dizzy off balance, been this way for 2 years now, everything bothers me. My diet is very restricted too, I cut out gluten at first but soon realized its not just gluten its many many more foods.. Like you said anything with preservatives any gluten , wines beers so much its rediculous, ive lost over 35lbs and don't want to lose anymore. I've just started to try different foods and if I react I react what else can I do, little by little, but its so tough when you get gassy can't breathe, get dizzy, get a migraine all from something you eat. That you've always been able to tolerate, ugggh awful times right now, hope this lifts soon so I can enjoy food again..
Gypsy, again how long have you been going through perimenopause? You mentioned its been this way for two years. Ive already lost 30 lbs.from the digestion issues, and now this. I was just looking at pictures of myself from last year right before peri hit and the years before, oh what a change! I dont even recognize myself now. I pray to God that this passes real soon for us. It is unbelievable that hormones can do all of this to your body.
I feel your anxiety!! I also had to stop eating wheat eggs and dairy... as soon as menopause hit.... everything happened at once. ... I gained 80 lbs in a year... I was crazy with trying to figure out what was happening, it was the gluten....my body went nuts... I feel your pain.
Hi Caroline . Yes i am the same with wine.. I feel like it burns hole in my stomach... Tummy up and down most of the time now... I'm wishing it would all just go away but feel it is here to stay... CK
Hi Caroline - oh this is so interesting that you posted this...I am post menopause, but about 3 years ago I remember eating a piece of pie & my face instantly became flushed then every time I drank red wine (which I love) same thing, then anything sugary same reaction only it would also be accompanied with pulsating head and rapid heartbeats & of course the indigestion issues. I was diagnosed with Rosacea, but now looking back, I don’t think it was your typical Rosasea. Oddly enough, there is a menopause/rosasea connection. I think all of it is caused by menopause - I switched to white wine, same reaction. I am now convinced it’s sugar & carbohydrates that somehow our bodies cannot process well anymore - Eating lean protein & veggies seems to be the safest diet plan, but so incredibly boring day in & day out - I guess menopause defined is to suffer - Ugh!
Wine used to give me hot flushes but thankfully I can now drink it again without flushing
Hi Pinkcatfairy - well that’s encouraging about the wine - I live near the wine country & wine is so festive & fun - it’s hard not to enjoy it -
I can no longer eat anything remotely spicy. Also no legumes(beans). I love baked beans and Lima beans, white beans etc. I can't even eat hummus any more because it's made with chickpeas which is technically a bean. I can eat dairy except for ice cream(crazy right?) All these things give me awful gas now!
Some fried foods have also become an issue. I just get nauseous. Hang in there you're not alone.
I have literally had enough....I had hysterectomy 2 yrs ago I'm 38 and it's been a struggle ever since can't eat anything except certain vegetable and I don't even like meat really....I suffer with candida which I can honestly say has just appeared since hyst etc....i have always suffered with weight issues I have had allergy tests I'm now allergic to sugar, yeast MSG's , cheese mushrooms soya u name it I can't have it it's awful.....I am trying to follow a candida diet but it's like an intense meat eatet going vegan overnight....hard to say the least
I suffer with pain down below and I'm fed up it's reassuring to know I'm obvs not in my own though,😏

I'm saddened, stunned and so happy to meet you all. About 5 years ago I noticed my food allergies getting worse to the point where I have more no go foods than good foods. I also noticed what I thought was hay fever starting up, and it's progressively got worse. I can sympathise with the lack of tolerance to wine and the chronic indigestion. I honestly thought I was losing the plot but now I think I must be entering the menopause. Now I just need to figure what next! Has anyone found an escape route yet?

Oh, I developed a shellfish allergy during peri. My favorite food! I love shrimp scallops, crab etc. I have also found that my skin is sensitive to body wash, and lotions that have lots of perfume in them. I use a body wash from Whole Foods and St. Ives lotion seems to be okay for me. It's like a minefield! With what you can eat, drink, put on your skin etc.
