? foot pain?

Just three weeks post op and doing really well...however yesterday I had quite severe aching in foot on operated side.  foot has been swollen but this has resolved...it was more like a sever ache than pain if that makes sens? nothing to see but foot does feel tender to touch in places...just a thought ? is the foot in some kind of support/restraint during operation?

Hi Jane,

My foot and leg on op side was very swollen for a number of weeks and like you I experienced severe foot pain at three weeks. I sat with my feet up as much as possible, used ice packs and did foot pumps. It resolved fully but took a week and was followed by bruising which took a little longer to go.

Legs and feet go through lots of pulling during the op (there is a you tube video if your interested) but dont worry it will get better.

Best wishes, Dot.

Hi Jane I had very swollen feet and the Doctor sent me to Hospital to check for Blood clots, everything was OK,but even now 3 months post op My feet still get swollen when I put socks on,but I was told it can take up to 6 months for it to calm down,so Good Luck Michael

dear Jane ,

awful feeling isn't it. .... my feet are so "present " and I can not hold

them !!!

it could be that you are walking more and perhaps differently ...too tense. .cramped toes ? are you wearing something new ... different shoes?

when it gets worse or won't go away, call your gp..

sounds like you are doing great otherwise. ...

Big warm hug

I've had foot pain off and on, too.  I'm at week 4.  My pain seems to shift from my thigh to my hip to my lower back to my knee and to my foot.  Sometimes the top of my foot and sometimes the bottom.  There have been times when the only real pain I had was in my foot and took pain meds just for that.  It was explained to me that my entire leg, foot, hip and lower back would be adjusting to the change.  I also found ice to be helpful.  Right now I have a pinching sort of pain in the back of my thigh that seems to come and go.  I wish I could figure out what I'm doing to cause it.  I think any new or persistant pain is scary to us hippies.  At least, to me. Hope it resolves itself soon.

I had thought it must be all the pulling and manipulating that was going on in surgery....I had no sedation and found it quite an adventure being tugged and pulled all over the place!

yes, I am sure that is part of it too ...

you are a brave woman .... I chose GA ... no hear, no smell, no feel... just wake me up when it is done -

have a great day

hugs
