Hey gang. Hope all is well. I am 5 months post hip replacement with foot drop. I still walk with a cane due to frequent falls. I have also noticed a significant increase in foot sweat. I have very bad pain in right foot like fire ants biting me all the time. Still on Gabapentin but not helping as much. Anybody else deal with this?
Brian
Oh, yes. For past 8 years. Has v v slowly improved, but still left with symptoms.
Medics denied it all. Had loads of tests and interventions. Only v recently they've admitted sciatic nerve damage during THR.
Nothing helped; not even morphine. Just left to my own devices and having to manage symptoms day to day. Foot drop, too, with regular stumbling. And coping with Trendelenberg gait.
Hey Ho.

Hi Brian, sorry for your pain , and yes I have scaitic nerve damage from my left hip revision surgery Oct 2013. I have numbing from my knee down top of foot burning and sometimes my foot gets real cold . I have tried gabapentin didnt agree with me at all. I take Tramadol 2 to 3 times a day also go to physical therapy 3x week which i really think is helping. I must say lately I have better days than bad . Going to see nerulogist tomorrow for follow up appt to see if nerve is improving. I fell one time about 6 months after my surgery my physical therapist and i also working on balance really helped
I try to take one day at time I hope you start feeling better soon
Good Luck

I had severe sciatic pain from spondylolisthesis l-5 s-1 Fusion surgery helped alot. Never really got rid of all pain. Foot drop after thp really awful. The best way I can describe the foot pain is thousands of fire ants munching on my foot. The sweating is staining my boot. Was there a test they did or did they just up and admit a mistake. I am not after blood I just want to get better. Glad to know I;m not alone. Best wisheds!!!
Thanks Jackie. Been on Gabapentin for years. Have to to take stomach meds to offset it. Might help you. Does your calf muscle feel tight all the time? Had to crawl to shower multilple times due to cramps.
Hi Brian, I tried Gabapentin I felt weird and made my heart pound, My pain doctor thought that was strange !! I do have prescription cream that has gabapentin , and some anti inflamatory drugs that i rub on at night . Yes i have cramps I started taking magnesium 2 years ago its mineral that relaxes your muscles and helps you sleep better, Also helps with constipation from pain meds. Sometimes it feels like i have nail in my foot very painful at time. I do hope you start feeling better try magnesium might help . This site really helps me im glad i found this site, I know im not alone

Really sorry to hear that Brian, the lady in the next bed to me had foot drop, I am hoping I might see her when we go for our 6 week check, it was pretty bad when we were in hospital, although they say it is only 1 in 1000 who might suffer this?
Yey. And I was also that 1:1000. Now told my risks factor has increased to 3:1000 for my 2nd revisions in May.
Joy!
Oh no that's not good, I will keep my fingers crossed for you, good luck.
