Hi, Mel, I am starting a cbt course next monday as I have a social phobia, just wanted to know as you have recently done one, if you found it beneficial, and how long did it last, how long was it per week and for how many weeks.
Best Wishes
Danielle.
Hi Danielle
The CBT lasted 5 sessions for me but I could have had more and still can if need be. He left me to make the decision but has left me on his books until the end of July in case I need more sessions.
Yes they did help - but I seriously do believe that you have to go there with 100% trust in the therapist and the sessions. At first he took lead of the sessions but then I did. The sessions lasted 1 hour but one of them lasted almost 2 hours due to getting into some very painful and emotional topics about my life.
After each week he would give me some homework to do - some I found too difficult to do as they make you dig very deep into your own emotions and feelings and make you face up to some very painful negatives thoughts. Other homework I found easier. However, I have to say it was probably the more difficult pieces of homework that realyy helped me in the long run.
Hope the above information is of use to you, ask any questions you need answering about CBT and I will do my utmost to answer them.
Please be patient though lol. I had a slight fall out with the stairs Sunday morning and now laid up with a fractured elbow and few cuts and bruises to face and head
The painkillers knock me out :D so sleeping quite a lot and of course the pain from elbow isn't exactly mild
I am waiting to find out next Monday if I will need an operation to repair the elbow (fingers crossed I won't)
Now wouldn't my therapist just love to see me now all cut and bruised lol.
hope everyone is keeping well.
love 'n' hugs

Hi Melbi & TT hope you're both ok.
Melbi, I trust you're on the mend after arguing with the stairs  Isn't depression enough for one person to cope with!! Anyway, best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Katy, good luck with reducing the Citalopram, hope it works out for you.
Take care both of you.
All good wishes & best regards.
