Forgot to say I am now waiting to see someone at UCLH where Mr.Witt who does Anterior approach is listed.
Anterior approach is what the your doctor suggested, Vs the posterior approach?
Either is ok the muscles and tendons at moved aside not cut. I have both types done and there was no difference in recovery other than a few years between surgery.
Everyone is different. See the techniques for both approaches on the forum under the patient page for THR.
Good Luck.
Thank you
Not the doctor's suggestion,my own research.
My doctor said no need for THR unless in severe pain.
Pain now getting worse.
But awkward limping walk the worst thing.
many thanks

My doctor diagnosed my hip at two years before I finally gave up and had the surgery. Most docs tell us the same thing, wait until the pain is worse and then they also don't want us to wait to long . They also stress it's important to have good bone and tissue health for surgery. So that's what always confused me. I went in for xrays every 6 months to identify and complications before surgery.
When your your limping and in pain it's probably time to consider a THR while muscles and tendons ae still in good shape. In my case I had the surgery done in early spring so I could enjoy the summer. Sunshine and the outdoors has a heeling effect like no other.
