Four days post op, home and at the beginning of recovery

Morning all,

Had my first night in my own bed last night after my anterior and posterior repair on Wednesday.

So far, so good. Not in too much pain, uncomfortable and tired. But getting well looked after.

I know it's very early days but when did any of you ladies know when it had been a success. Since having catheter removed I have been peeing fine,  but still very frequently. Last night I was up at least three times through the night. Wondering if I need to retrain my bladder or if this will settle in time. No BM yet, taking my movicol regularly so hoping that will happen in time without any issues.

Tips to keep myself sane for next 6 weeks? I'm not a huge day time television person and am a big reader but my concentration levels are so poor at the minute! I am definitely going to rest and do as little as possible, even if it is going to be a pain, do not want to risk any ill effects to the surgery.

Ok so I'm waffling now, going to attempt a shower and wash my hair today as will be getting a few visitors today!

Thanks for reading/listening to my waffle x

Your doing great, good to hear all went well. Re-watch all your favourite TV serious/films. Plan early for Xmas and get all your shopping done on line before the prices go up.

Good luck and take care,

Phyl x

Hi

It's  3 weeks tomorrow since my anterior & posterior prolapse repairs plus perineum reconstruction & I have to say at last I'm beginning to feel better, though I do still have bad days where I'm incredibly tired & tearful. I have a wonderful husband who is looking after me brilliantly & we are lucky enough to be retired so not too much pressure. I found passing urine very painful for quite a while & the first bowel movement was horrible,  but it's all eased now. I take Lactulose twice daily which helps as I found the Movicol too harsh. I started short walks at day 4 increasing them by a few yards daily. I still have an afternoon nap as I'm exhausted by then.I sit on a coccyx cushion as I still feel quite uncomfortable when sitting.  Please keep reading this forum-I've found the advice & support invaluable as I didn't get any advice from my surgeon or the hospital, I'd have been very anxious regarding my progress without the reassuring comments on here. As to knowing if your op is a success, I assume your consultant will tell you at your follow up appointment, though I actually haven't got one. The huge bulge that I had showing beforehand has now disappeared so I'm hoping that means success! Good luck with your recovery - be patient & accept all the help you can.Best wishes Carol x

PS....I meant to say I keep myself occupied on my tablet - I downloaded several apps such as crosswords, codewords, solitaire, scrabble, jigsaws, WordTrek - whatever interests you really. It does keep the brain active & keeps the boredom at bay! Good luck. Carol
