Hello I posted at 11 days I am now four weeks post op partial knee replacement. I thought I was doing very well for the most part. Now I am back to work and the knee is swelling. Is this now the new norm? I am just so discouraged and fed up with the whole thing. Tired of icing and elevating.I just want to go about my day and forget about the knee. My last visit with the surgeon he remove fluid from my knee. Has anyone else had fluid removed from their knees and how often can you actually have that done safely? Thank you in advance for your advice / help.
Debbie
I have had fluid removed once. Never had the need to have it done again.
How far along in your PO were you ? Did you have a total or partial replacement ?
8 Days. It was fluid build up and removed by a needle didn't hurt at all.
hope u r better soon.
heeling prayers on the way!
Debbie, swelling and needing to ice and elevate are the new norm for a while. I was icing up to one year afterwards, especially after more than the usual walking. 20 months later I don't ice at all. I do still like to sit on my bed with my knees out in front of me and my laptop on my lap rather than sitting at a table or on the couch.
This seems very early back to work to me! Have you got support hose for your leg, that would help and there are some very nifty and fairly discreet ice packs which strap around the knee which would suit the going back to work scenario and I seem to hear that icing and swelling can go on for some months after this op! I am sorry to hear you so despondant and I hope some of the tips you get on here really help you. All the best Suki
