I'm four or five years post bi-lateral hip replacements. The journey that was undertaken with these new hips was one fraught with much pain and lost time from work and my family life. I've had three (3) new hips on my right side and only one on the left. The right side from the time of first displacement and subsequent surgeries has been nothing but a nightmare-now four or five years post-surgery it appears I now have a large Hematoma lodged in my groin near the prosthesis-go figure!! The pain is so severe that it has brought tears to my eyes on several occasions. Walking seems impossible without the use of a cane or walker. I just had a CT scan to confirm that there is a problem in my hip, thought it was a hernia issue. My hip doctor who also thinks he is GOD can't seem to see me until 8/9/18, really!! I'm in so much pain and trying to keep away from the meds to alleviate said pain, it's difficult. Does anyone or has anyone had this occur so far post surgery? Does anyone know what the treatment protocol is? Just want to be fixed!!!
I'm sorry I can't help you..but I'm sure someone on here could give you insight...I can't believe your Dr God can't see you until August...I would go elsewhere if you could...I'm sorry you are going through this..🙏
Daniel,
I can't offer any similar experience or medical advice however I would express my opinion on two matters- if you are in that much pain you should be getting and using pain meds. Suffering has little clinical value, in these kind of situations neither does self sacrifice. In these kind of situations selfishness might just save your life. The second regards your doctor's attitude and treatment- unless you feel he is the only medical professional you can trust with this and therefore can not afford to fire them or even alienate them, I would make it clear that after all the time you have been under his care he OWES you the professional courtesy to MAKE TIME to see you and short of that I would be finding a different doctor. very sorry to hear about your pain and the dissapointment you must be experiencing. Get the pain under control, and advocate for yourself strongly enough that you are heard and respected. Best of luck.
I think I agree with jimbone, take painkillers as needed, and insist on being seen by someone, Mr.God or someone else.
Obviously he only thinks he is God because if he was God you would have been pain free and wouldn't have had to have so many repeat ops.
As others have said, take your meds and find another surgeon, why would you hang around waiting for him, he obviously doesn't have your best interest at heart.
Who did your first hip, was it same person.
If not couldn't you go back to them.
Can they not drain the hematoma, I have heard of them draining knee hematomas from patients after knee replacement, their are posts on here regarding it.
Hope you take the pain meds and at least don't have to suffer too much.
Are you USA
Hey Diane, when I had my FHR on my right hip 13mths ago,I thought it was the start of a new life for me,but from the start I had nothing but pain,it was 24/7 my right leg was twisted in ,went back to the surgeon 6mths ago and he told me it was from my back,I kicked up and told him it was my hip but he fobed me off and told me I was wrong, just wouldn’t listen .Then 3 weeks ago my hip dislocated,at least this time he took me seriously, from now on I’ll
make sure they hear me I’ll do whatever I have to to make them listen. I’m so sorry your in so much pain but the strange thing is,since my hip dislocated and subsequently was put back in position, the pain has subsided .I truly hope u get some peace soon.
Hi Daniel. I’ve had 2 hematomas on my left hip. But mine have been the result of botched surgeries and metal on metal reaction. I did have them aspirated , one had nearly 2 litres of blood taken from it and it certainly helped with the pain .If you do have yours aspirated do make sure it’s done in sterile conditions and the needle is only used on one site and they use a fresh one if they need to take more from elsewhere. My plastic surgeon aspirated fluid in her consulting room and re stuck me with the same needle in various places and I now have an infected hip prosthesis which I have to take antibiotics for life. My pseudo tumour was so vast they had to take flesh from my stomach to fill the void in my leg! Don’t panic my situation is way off the charts from normal having had 12 operations. Don’t be afraid to speak up if you think what they are doing is wrong. Hope it all works out for you. Best wishes. Patsy x
