Hi I've broken my wrist and have had the cast changed 4 times because of the discomfort and pain. The last 3 casts have still been uncomfortable and painful. They slide up and down on my arm. I have tried to trim the length because it's cutting into my arm and thumb. I feel I cannot go back again to hospital because the nurses have made comments on how many times I've had it changed. What else can I do? I'd appreciate any suggestions
Hi Mary, I never heard about a similar situation as yours - having to change the casts on and on , because they not keep firm on your arm.
On top of that you feel uncomfortable everytime you have to go back to the hospital because the reaction of the nurses.
I am sure you will get replies from someone who had the same issue, or have heard about it.
Both ways there will be a word to help you on what to do. I wish it will come in few minutes!

I broke my wrist and arm. Was put into a cast for four weeks then splint. It never moved until the swelling went down. Have you been using a sling? I did. Had to have round thumb trimmed as cutting into thumb. You do get pain no matter what cast. Hope you get it sorted, breaks are bad enough!
Dear Mary of course the splint is painful but it have to be changed in certain situations like you notice that your fingertips become blue or pale indicating that the splint is tight too much. The fracture have to be immobilised so you say that the splint come up and down this mean that it is loose and may lead to displacement in the fracture so I think you have to inform your doctor
Thank you. Yes I think I will have to but I don't like complaining about it again.
Thank you Jenny
Thank you I hope so
Hi I did wear a sling in the first week but they then told me not to wear it because it would weaken the muscles in my hand/wrist,. that I can understand. Thank you Jenny
You are very welcome, Mary!
